March 19, 2008 - HorrorClix Nightmares Gallery Complete!

Once again thanx to the regulars on the HorrorClix Forums (and with absolutely zero help from WizKids themselves) we have now completed the monster gallery for HorrorClix Nightmares. Meanwhile, WizKids still has a mere 22 figures in their gallery.

Additionally we've received a completely updated Excel Checklist/Team Builder that now includes both HorrorClix Nightmares and the Freddy vs. Jason Action Pack. You can download it from the Monsters page.

March 12, 2008 - North America Plagued With Nightmares!

Yes, fellow HorrorClixers, today both HorrorClix Nightmares boosters and the New Line Cinema Freddy vs Jason Action Pack hit your local gaming store a mere 10 months after the last release. But enough negativity, today is a day for celebration!

Be sure to drop by the HorrorClix forums to see what other people pulled from their boosters and report your own booster pulls as well!

March 10, 2008 - Two Days Top Official Nightmares Release!

With only two days left until the official release date for HorrorClix Nightmares (it released in Europe a couple of weeks ago) we've completed a little more than 90% of the monsters gallery here at It's Wicked Fun.

We're still missing pictures of 5 monsters, cards for 6 monsters, and dials for 22 monsters. Everything else (and these as we receive the information) can be seen from our HorrorClix monsters page. For the complete list of what we're still missing see the HorrorClix forums.

Thanx, once agin, to Fodskammel we also finally have the long-awaited Zombie Astronaut card posted!

March 6, 2008 - Another Mystery Solved Discuss

Since we first saw the new rules insert included in HorrorClix Nightmares boosters the HorrorClix Forums have been aflutter with questions about the mystery figure in one of the example photographs. Well, mystery solved! Check out the Vampire Savage!

March 5, 2008 - Nightmares & Freddy vs Jason Additions

Uberman has constructed a PDF version of a HorrorClix Nightmares Checklist. You can find it on the bottom of the HorrorClix monsters page along with other set checklists.

The Mad Hatter came through on the HorrorClix Forums with complete data from the HorrorClix New Line Cinema Freddy vs Jason Action Pack! We've now got cards, figure photos, dials and powers for the entire set posted. Check the HorrorClix monsters page

March 3, 2008 - HorrorClix Nightmares Victims & Minions

Thanks to Fodskammel in the HorrorClix Forum we now have stats and images posted for all of the new victims and minions from HorrorClix Nightmares boosters.

Fodskamel also supplied us with scans of the victims from the Freddy vs. Jason Action Pack.

March 1, 2008 - HorrorClix Nightmares Plot Twists Revealed

We've managed to acquire and post scans and full details for all 18 Plot Twists available in HorrorClix Nightmares boosters.

You can see them all on our Plot Twists page.

We've also recently received full details on the first Limited Edition (LE) from Nightmares prize support: Poltergeist.

February 20, 2008 - Freddy vs. Jason Action Pack Discuss

Thanks to EryxUK we have full details on the Fredy vs. Jason New Line Cinema Action Pack-

There is a single double-side map with this starter. On one side is the Boiler Room which is a bit hard on the eyes (grid panel floor) but is a rather nice maze map. The other side is Camp Crystal Lake. Its a section of lake with jetty and five small cabins.

The six victims are reprints of cop, 2x student, and nerd, with two new ones - hero and heroine. All these are photo stills from the film rather than the usual artwork. These do have a copyright NLC on the backs but its small text and they blend in well with the standard victims unlike the 20th Century Fox logo on the AVP victims.

There are four new plot twists.

Two new 3D objects.

Freddy's Stove. If a victim is slain while adjacent to a Freddy's Stove the slaying monster is healed of 1 damage.

Open Grave. If a victim is slain while adjacent to an open grave, the active player can move another victim a number of spaces equal to half its speed value.

Five new monsters.

August 17, 2007 - Two MASSIVE Announcements
1) We've now received two reports that the big announcement at GenCon was that the next licensed property for HorrorClix is a New Line Cinema Action Pack containing Freddy Kreuger (Nightmare on Elm Street), Jason Voorhees (Friday The 13th), and Leatherface (Texas Chanisaw Massacre).

While still unconfirmed, we're fairly confident this is accurate information.

Discussion of the announcement and what it means for the game can be found at

2) On the HorrorClix Forums rottgutt reports:

Okay, I've been drinking so take that into consideration when I flip out, but here's what I've gleaned from the Envoy Appreciantion Night reports I've gotten:

The bad part is that Nightmares will be postponed until fucking February when they release the New Line action pack.

What the hell? We need an expansion, we don't need the expansion to be delayed! That's not going to do anything beneficial to the game.

Now that's what I've been told. I don't believe it to be a rumor.

August 14, 2007 - HorrorClix: The Lab to Release in Europe on September 6!

HorrorClix: The Lab, the long-anticipated second release of HorrorClix, will arrive at European retailers on Thursday, September 6, with a surprise European-exclusive addition!

“We’re really excited to release this special European version of The Lab,” said Mark Tuttle, HorrorClix brand manager at WizKids. “As a token of appreciation for our patient HorrorClix fans, we’ve added a sneak preview of Nightmares to European The Lab Boosters.”

These sneak previews are two figures from the third HorrorClix release, : Succubus and Mime Monster. These figures have been randomly inserted into European The Lab Boosters.

Mime Monster

HorrorClix: The Lab combines bizarre creatures from across sci-fi and horror worlds, including alien grays, dinosaurs, misshapen experiments, and zombies! The set features 96 The Lab monsters to collect, with new plot twist cards and victim tokens. HorrorClix: The Lab Boosters contain four randomly inserted figures, four matching monster cards, one plot twist card, and one victim token.

July 23, 2007 - House (rules) Of Horror (clix)

A few months back we here at It's Wicked Fun decided to do a monthly HorrorClix house rules article for Bill Rock's Critical Hit magazine.  We dutifully wrote up our first issue and submitted it,  Then waited.  And Waited.  It's been more than 6 weeks since the last monthly issue was released and over a month since the deadline for our first monthly column.  For some reason No Critical Hit has been published.  We're very aware that real life sometimes messes up schedules for hobby stuff (and y'all know we've had the problem many times), but we just couldn't wait any longer.  So...

Introducing the first House of Horror column by the crew at It's Wicked Fun.  The theme for Critical Hit was scheduled to be Carnival of Carnage, so we decided to honor Freakshow with not only Carny Minions, courtesy of the new Subplot: One Of Us.  We hope you like 'em.  We also devised a new rule set for turning existing uniques into Cabal Leaders and used six Freakshow uniques as samples.  Read the column for full details!

July 14, 2007 - T-shirt ideas needed!

I recently came across two young local artists who are interested in creating some art for the It's Wicked Fun Network. They do great work, with plenty of detail and some pretty amazing anatomical images.

So, the question is, what shall I have them draw? That's where y'all come in. I'm collecting ideas for a tshirt deign in this thread at the Horrorclix forums. I'll have them draw up a few concepts for us and then let our visitors decide which we should have done and emblazon on various I.W.F. swag.

July 9, 2007 - Massive HorrorClix Sale!

My personal financial situation has gotten beyond desperate, and the only thing I have left that's at all salable is my Clix, so it's time for them to go as well.

Don't worry, I am not going anywhere (neither is I.W.F. network - donations are in seperate accounts), and I fully intend to recover all of these HorrorClix once I'm back on my feet. I'm just out of other things to sell.

I've posted up a thread in the For Sale forum listing all my clix for sale and details.

Pretty much the entire Base Set and Lab, every LE (except the Carousel Ghost and Wacko Jacko), Cthulhu, Fin Fang Foom, and much, much more!

There are also auctions for the four Freakshow LE figures: FS-200 Bull, FS-201 Miss Slyther, FS-202 Tunnel Terror, and FS-203 Billy Stank. At least one of these won't be available ANYWHERE else until October. But WizKids has repeatedly stated that for HorrorClix a figure is legal to play as soon as you have it in your hand, so....

July 5, 2007 - Campaign Contest voting begins!

We've opened the voting on the HorrorClix Campaign contest.  You may make your voice heard on our forums.

And you can check out all the entries at our HorrorClix Campaigns page.

June 26, 2007 - IMPORTANT! Forum domain changing!
The domain for the IWF forums will be changing Thursday night at midnight PDT (roughly). The forums will be closed down for (hopefully only) about a half hour while this change is made. If you visit the forums and receive a "page not found" or "forums closed" message during this time (or on Friday) DO NOT be alarmed. We'll be back ASAP!

The current forwarding page: will continue to work as will the links from the main site.

There is no reason we should lose any posts and this change would probably go unnoticed by the majority of our users, but we wanted to let you know in advance.

For any who are concerned, this is a GOOD thing for the site as it is a sign of our growth.
June 19, 2007 - Scenario Contest results

Well, we've finally finished up with the scenario contest!
(you remember the scenario contest, right? From April? Yeah, we suck and we know it).

Second place goes to....

The Adventures of Tabio the Zombie
Chapter 1: Get That Zombie

by Thony

None of us here are much in the way of Zombie fans. Making us rethink our assumptions is always worth a reward of some sort. In fact, this scenario got higher marks, on average, then any of the other finalists. Unfortunately, for Tabio ... er, Thony, the point spread wasn't quite enough to take out...

our first place winner:

Burning Down The House
by Visceral_Mass

We just can't stop playing this scenario. Okay, not so much the scenario itself as its special rule. We regularly drop it into games (sometimes even in the middle of the game!). It works, it's simple, it turns everything on its ear, it can be used as a tool to speed games up, newbies can grasp it without difficulty. In other words, it's almost tailor-made for winning a contest such as this.

Many, many of the scenarios that were submitted were absolutely outstanding. Several were amazing efforts that worked really well, but just seemed as if they were going to be too complicated for many situations. This doesn't mean they aren't great scenarios, though. Umatima and I play against each other WAY too often, for example, so we're always looking for something to spice things up and force us to alter our regular tactics. While our winner is an easy gateway scenario for new players and the runner up is perfect for a group with a solid ZM, it's likely the more complex scenarios that re going to keep the game fresh during the summer figure drought.

The volume and quality of the scenarios submitted for this contest were both spectacular. It truly is all of you that make both It's Wicked Fun and HorrorClix so great!

June 19, 2007 - First Semi-Annual Report

I discovered HorrorClix on November 21, 2006

I bought my Starter and first boosters on November 24, 2006

It's Wicked Fun (the gaming group) was founded December 1, 2006 (after I got a few friends hooked)

I registered the domain name on December 28, 2006

The site went public on January 15, 2007

The forums were created on February 13, 2007 (don't know when they went public as it was gradual)

I'd say we're doing pretty well for such a young site Grin

The forums have just over 200 registered accounts with about half of them making more than 10 posts and 90% making at least one.

The main site has grown from about 50 pages in January to over 1,000 pages now.

We still have far more official info readily available than the official WizKids site.

We've got close to 200 custom game components on the site, nearly 100 different scenarios, and oh so much more.

We receive daily visits from more than a dozen different countries and have been visited by people from more than 30.

We've received cash donations from 10 people (outside IWF members), product donations from a few more. Considering our youth and how little I push for donations this is not bad at all, though more is always better Wink

It's going to be a long summer with the lack of new HorrorClix product and my financial situation not allowing me to sponsor contests the way we were, but we've got a solid group of regulars and I believe both the game and this site should survive (if not exactly thrive) during this drought.

I'm not sure what else y'all would like to know about IWF's first six months in existence, but feel free to post if you have questions.

Oh, and we're still doing just fine without moderators, thank you very much. The community has taken to the hands-off approach and policed itself as I knew you all could.

I do want to thank all of you that have contributed so much time and energy to this site. Without all of you it would just be another random page drifting through the ether of the internet. Not only have you made the game better for all (whether they know about the site or not), but you've kept me, personally, going through some incredibly difficult times. Thank you.

We've always been about full disclosure here at I.W.F. (well, except for the Rank thresholds, but that's just fun to keep secret Wink ) so here's a rough breakdown of the financial side of I.W.F. over the first six months...

Cash Donations - $166.51 (after PayPal Fees)
Map Sales - ~$187.00 (after PayPal Fees)
CafePress Sales - $4.00
Custom victim/PT sales - $37.00
Advertising Revenue (None of which has been received or will be received until August at the earliest)
- Straight ads - $35.76
- Affiliate Fees - $93.90 (almost all as a result of eBay)

Total site revenue - $524.17 (including the $129.66 owed to us ($394.51 actually received))

Domain names - $45.00
Site Hosting - $90.00
Map Printing - $236.37
Prizes awarded (not counting April/May contests) - $346.00
Shipping of prizes/maps/purchases - $126.09
Expected cost of April/May Contest prizes w/ shipping - ~$350.00

Total site costs - $1193.46 (including prizes owed ($843.46 already expended))

If we were to add in 2 full-time employees at California minimum wage that'd be roughly another $1800.00 (and collectively we spend way more than 80 hours per week working on I.W.F.).

Not to mention our personal expenditures on HorrorClix.

So it's pretty obvious that the rumors that we run this site for the money are correct, isn't it
Yep, we're making a killing. Hoo-rah!

June 18, 2007 - Lying Monkeys Made Honest!

Pseudotheist (HorrorClix Rules Arb) Wrote on the WizKids Forum-

News Flash: Monkeys Fly!

No, not out of my butt... out of the Errata and Clarifications.
It has been decided that the Flying Monkeys (Freakshow figures # 64-66) should indeed have the bat-wing movement symbol to indicate flying. This will be added to the next version of the Errata & Clarifications.

June 6, 2007 - HorrorClix: Freakshow LE Figure Prize Support

HorrorClix: Freakshow has brought us many new monsters, powers, Plot Twists and victims, but the most oft asked question for any new Clix expansion has to be... "What about the LE Prize figures?" Well, once again, WizKids has come through with flying colors (literally in one case). We're proud to present the four Prize Support figures from HorrorClix: Freakshow-

June 6, 2007 - June 2007 HorrorClix FAQ Released

WizKids has released the latest FAQ and Errata document for HorrorClix.  This is a completely reworked document and much cleaner and easier to use than the previous documents.  You can download it from our Rules Page.

We here at It's Wicked Fun took a couple of days off from the "business" of HorrorClix and this site in order to regain our sanity, by playing with the new Freakshow figures and basically ignoring WizKids and the various forums.  We're back now and once again in love with this awesome game called HorrorClix.  We're continuing to add cards and dials for Freakshow figures, editing numerous site entries, creating new customs suggested by our users, building an "army builder database" for HorrorClix, and writing a VERY exciting review/preview article which should be posted this evening.

June 3, 2007 - Contests Update

The Campaign Contest closed over the weekend, and we've got a total of 6 entries. Three of which I've still got to get read, edited and posted.

We haven't forgotten about the Scenario contest either. It's just taking a while to play them all out as most of our members don't like being forced into a certain army type and most of the semi-finalists require specific armies (mostly Gurdians). But we're working on it.

We have no specific contests in mind for the near future, so we're instituting monthly drawings instead. Full details below:

Our monthly contests have been a HUGE success and we thank all of the participants as profusely as we can.  But we've come to a point where all of the different areas of the site have plenty of content that people have not yet explored.  So we're going to try something a little different.

At the end of each month we will have a drawing for some special HorrorClix prizes: sealed product, hard to find stuff, etc.  The more entries we have each month the more (and/or more expensive) prizes we'll have.  This will allow visitors to contibute whatever they like when the mood strikes them: reviews, scenarios, campaigns, custom pieces, etc.  It's also another way to give back to our donors (who make purchasing the prizes possible).

Entries to the drawing can be earned in a number of ways-

  • Donate to the site -
Every dollar donated to the site in any given month will earn the donor one entry.
Donors on a subscription will receive a number of entries equal to that month's allocation of their total donation.  For example, if you donate at the Rookie level ($18/six months) you will receive 3 entries per month or if you donate at the Veteran level ($50/year) you will receive 5 entries per month (yes, annual subscriptions get you two 'free' months.
  • Submit content to the site -
Every piece of content submitted by a visitor and added to the site will earn its author/submitter a number of entries to that month's drawing.
Reviews will general earn fewer entries than full articles/columns, which will generally earn fewer entries than full-length campaign systems or complex variants.
But it's not only length of the submission, but usefulness as well. If someone were to submit a full setlist of Nightmares in June then that would be an incredible find and would earn more entries than an excellent battle report that has many more words involved.
The number of entries received for a submission to the site will be determined by the It's Wicked Fun staff (aka cabal members) and the submitter will be notified of the number they received when they are notified that their submission has been posted.
  • Link to us -
If you have a website/blog/forum/etc and have posted a link back to then let us know about it and we'll give you 5 entries to the monthly drawing for each full month the link has been active on your site.
  • Contributing to the forums -
Again, no hard and fast rules here, but whenever an IWF staff (aka cabal member) feels you have been particularly helpful or useful in the forums, they just may throw a contet entry your way.
  • Buy something from us -
Whether it be through our CafePress shop, our eBay auctions, or ordering customs from the site or forums.  Every $5 spent at I.W.F. will net you an entry as well.
  • Find us advertisers -
If you know a business or website that you think could benefit from advertising here at It's Wicked Fun, contact us for our rate sheet.  If your contact ends up purchasing advertising from us, you will receive one entry for every $2 they spend in advertising.
  • Attend Our Events -
All participants in any face-to-face event run by It's Wicked Fun will receive an entry into that month's drawing as well.

A message containing the running total of the number of outstanding entries for the month as well as the prize(s) being offered will be maintained in the Wicked Contests section of our forum.

May 29, 2007 - More Freakshow Cards!

I'm still working (and therefore living) in someone else's home for another couple of days.  Which means no Photoshop for me.  But that's no reason for y'all to suffer.  Siimhenk was kind enough to send us the scans for more HorrorClix: Freakshow cards.   We can't cut up the image and put them all on their proper pages right now, but here they are-

May 28, 2007 - Let the chase begin!

We first heard about it a few weeks back.  We shared the rumor here last week.  And we've received confirmation from a Level 3 Judge here this morning.

Wacko Jacko Lantern (FS-205) is, indeed, a chase figure. At least, it is in Europe.  None have been spotted in North America yet, but far fewer boosters have been opened here as well.  There's also no word on The Black Death, or on wether or not this will still be a prize for one of the July WizKids events.  We'd love to bring you more info, but that's all we've got for now!

May 23, 2007 - PLOT TWIST 012, 013, 014, 015 and CLOWN

Coulrophobia, or the fear of clowns, may at first seem a bit irrational. The bright colors, cheerful personality, and overall positive demeanor that they exude should make them a soothing influence. The exact opposite reaction, however, seems to be the case for many people. To one child that painted smile may indicate a kindly, non-threatening circus performer, while to another it could appear to simply be a mask, hiding the true face of evil.

In horror movies the clown-as-monster persona is quite common. In Freakshow, we've decided to play on this concept not only with our figures, such as the Cannibal Clowns, but also with our Plot Twists!

For the most part, HorrorClix gameplay has been very heavy on close combat. To deal with this, a common strategy is to place a monster just out of the range of an opposing figure. With JUGGLING PINS you can now give a monster you control a range value of 3, making them unbelievably dangerous. Figures like Vat Grown Clone with impressive damage but no range become much more threatening with this plot twist.

The most popular plot twists in HorrorClix arguably tend to be the ones that prevent victims from being slain. CLOWN CAR, as another preventative plot twist, is even more useful in that it not only allows you to prevent an opponent from slaying a victim but also assists in allowing you to potentially slay two victims at once. This card will be a must-have for teams that take advantage of producing minions or monsters that benefit from having multiple victims on their cards.

Often one of the most memorable aspects of the circus is the food. Hot dogs, candy apples, and popcorn are all "comfort foods" of most popular variety. Cotton candy, however, is a bit different in that its very appearance and texture is utterly alien to most every day foods. COTTON CANDY plays on the uniquely sticky properties of this treat. Use this plot twist to prevent a monster from slaying a victim and to also give the monster two action tokens, simulating the character's sweet tooth getting in the way of its bloodlust!

The face paint worn by clowns is often what makes them most horrific. This heavy greasepaint can conceal even the most dangerous monster under the guise of a friendly circus performer. The great thing about this plot twist is that it allows you to stop one of your opponent's monsters in their tracks when they least expect it. The ability to then move one of your own monsters as a free action is just icing on the cake.

Victim is noted as one James Barnes, an employee of the traveling circus now dubbed the Freakshow. Victim's face has been severely burned by what appears to be greasepaint and appears to be the cause of death. Post-Mortem analysis has also found that a cotton candy-like substance had been force fed down the victim's throat.

May 21, 2007 - Critical Hit Vol. 2 No. 2

Rock has released the latest issue of Critical Hit magazine (Download the PDF) which includes an overview of Slashers, a team building article for HorrorClix, and rules & custom figured for introducing Highlander into HorrorClix.

It's accompanied by more custom victims (PDF) and an almost complete Freakshow Checklist (PDF)

May 19, 2007 - Monster Under The Blog

The world’s most prolific monster, The Boogeyman, makes his way to HorrorClix in the new Freakshow set and we’ve got your first look at his dial and stats.  No pics of the actual figure have leaked, but we’ve been told it’s actually a monster under the bed.

In site related news, we've created the IWF Changeblog at   The blog will be posted to EVERY time we update the site, large or small.  We just can't do that on this page, particularly with all the small leaks we're getting about Freakshow.  The blog also has an RSS feed, so you can get the latest updates however you like.

May 19, 2007 - HorrorClix Freakshow Plot Twists & Uniques

We've got all but one of the Plot Twists for HorrorClix Freakshow.  For some odd reason, not a single one of our sources seems able to get their hands on Plot Twist #12.

We've also got the card & powers for Bailey and Jameson (FS-030), making another complete monster, and full dials & powers for Hearteater (FS-090) & Cotswald Giant (FS-093).

May 15, 2007 - PLOT TWIST 009, 010, 011, and TALKER

Many horror filmmakers play on our ability to be afraid of our thoughts and imaginative wonderings in addition to our natural abhorrence of gore and blood. What the Plot Twist mechanic in HorrorClix allows you to do is reenact your favorite horror scenes across the entire spectrum of the genre, from subtle, psychological terror to the out-and-out zombie apocalypse. Use these Plot Twists to not only tip the game in your favor, but to also further enhance the horrific mood of the game!

Zombies are some of the most desirable pieces in HorrorClix. In fact, one of the most popular 'theme teams' is the endless zombie horde; unfortunately the low attack value of most zombie figures usually holds this type of team back from being very successful. ZOMBIE MOB, however, allows teams of zombies to get a +2 to their attack values, somewhat leveling the playing field and making the zombie threat an even larger one!

HG Wells thrilled readers in 1895 as he sent his protagonist to a terrifying future hell of mans own making. In HorrorClix the hourglass mechanic simulates a monsters dramatic defeat, only to rise again to terrify its victims. THE AMAZING TIME MACHINE allows figures that have this hourglass feature to avoid unpreventable damage for one turn. This plot twist will be great for Freakshow's Carousel Ghost and Cannibal Clowns.

Deep down all people fear death, but what if you knew when the exact moment would be? The CRYSTAL BALL dictates the fate of two victims on the board. This plot twist is important to monsters that are looking for a victim type or particular gender as it gives you a few more choices than you would normally have.

Victim has been identified as one William Coup based on identification found at the crime scene. Victim was a promoter for the local traveling circus. Cause of death was by dismemberment and remains appear to have been partially consumed. Bite marks appear to be almost human in nature, but the extreme unlikelihood of this should be noted. May 12, 2007 - New Rarity/Packaging Scheme Coming in Nightmares

Yesterday WizKids released their new rarity scheme to go along with their new packaging scheme that will first be seen in HorrorClix with the release of Nightmares (though it will first be seen in HeroClix: Avengers).

There has since been much debate and discussion about it, so we thought we'd try to get to the bottom of things by posting some actual numbers on what the change means.  Check out Then and Now in the Articles section.

If you're interested in the dteails of how we think this will all work out, then check our latest article: Deciphering The New HorrorClix Distribution as well.

May 11, 2007- We've Got A New Rules Arb!!!

Rollie Watson, HorrorClix Co-Assistant Brand Manager writes....

After careful review and deliberation, Wizkids has selected a new HorrorClix Rules Arbitrator!

Please welcome Todd France aka Pseudotheist into his new position as HorrorClix Rules Arbitrator. We're sure that Todd's extensive knowledge of the game as well as his great forum presence will be a excellent asset to the HorrorClix community.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply and especially the select few that we interviewed. It was an extremely tough decision and we hope that all of you continue to be positive presences in your HorrorClix communities!

WizKids welcomes Todd to this new role and we hope you all send him a note to offer your congratulations. Thanks!

A BIG congratulations to Pseudotheist!!

And this is one decision by WK that I can't see a single HorrorClix Fan arguing with.

May 11, 2007 - Send In The Clowns!

Cannibal Clowns R (FS-010)

Ladies and gentlemen, I now direct you to the center ring. Prepare to be dazzled with the tumbling and juggling of Puck the clown! Watch as Puck juggles knives, meat cleavers, and chainsaws! Marvel at his seemingly impossible ability to appear two, even three places at once! Though watch your fingers as Puck has more than just a taste for making you laugh…

What can be more fun than coming after your opponent with a monster named Cannibal Clowns? For a mere 15 points you get a great figure that can do some real damage and also fill up those annoying little point gaps that are found on many teams. Add this great game play value to the incredible sculpt pictured above and you can’t afford not to have them on your team!

The Cannibal Clowns start with an hourglass as their attack value, so get them to a victim early. Your opponent will be torn between wasting a plot twist on a 15 point enemy figure or allowing this piece to become blooded, and very dangerous. Three separate clicks of Devour (Spree) will allow this figure to increase its damage value by +1 for each victim on its card. This, coupled with the Snack power that allows the Clowns to heal themselves of 1 point of damage the first time they slay a victim each turn, makes the piece a definite token-chomper.

The Cannibal Clowns are likely to be extremely underestimated on the battlefield as many players may only see the piece as a lowly 15 point figure. Though after facing them, your opponent will be sure to think differently, perhaps even imagining, right before bed… “can’t sleep, Cannibal Clowns will eat me!”

Ringmaster (FS-096)
Big Red V (FS-075)

HorrorClix: Freakshow Sneak Peek
Big Red

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Freakshow! Not every member of the Freakshow is monstrous…on the outside. Some have stories that are meant to awe and inspire, demonstrating that great quality of human nature, the potential for heroism. Gaze ladies and gentleman on a living example of that quality, Big Red. Originally tasked with saving the innocent from blazing infernos, he now protects them from a threat far more gruesome: evil in all its forms! Come not too close for it is said that Big Red swings his mighty axe whenever someone with evil in their heart draws near…

In HorrorClix: Freakshow Big Red is a great protector of the innocent. His high attack values (opening up at 10 and staying consistent with a 9 attack) and decent damage make him a useful frontline attacker. However, his opening 3 damage is supplemented by his Hero’s Strength (Righteous) power which allows his damage to be modified by +1 for every victim he rescues. Save as many victims as possible as he keeps this ability for 5 clicks.

Big Red is not going to miss very often as he also has Fortune’s Favor (Reflexes), which will allow you to re-roll one die that does not fall in your favor. Strategically this figure can be very defensive as well. If you can place him inside a building with a portal he can make use of the Seal power that forces another monster to have to make a minimum attack roll of 16 in order to destroy the portal. Additionally, portals do not hinder Big Red, as his Stand Back (Unseal) power allows him to go through the strongest of doors on an attack roll result of 10. If possible try to rescue a victim inside of a building to get the most use of these unique abilities.

As a whole, Big Red is a very affordable close combat figure. His high attack values and the Hero’s Strength power make him very dangerous when he makes a frenzy attack. This figure is especially effective when teamed up with other Guardians, so complementing him with figures such as Vampire Hunter or Valerie Elle could mean the end for your opponent as he swings his axe into the action.

May 9, 2007 - More HorrorClix Freakshow Sneaks from Rock!

For decades films have been playing on our worst fears of the circus. Large, dangerous animals, freaks of nature, shady carnies, even the image of the bloodthirsty killer clown have all been reinforced by popular media. Freakshow's big appeal is that not only does it tap into our hidden fears with these creatures, it also allows the player to reenact the often surprisingly dramatic tones that these films create through its creative use of victim tokens and plot twists!

SEE THE EGRESS is a great plot twist to represent a victim making a death-defying escape. As long as you control a guardian this Plot Twist will allow you to instantly stop your opponent from slaying a victim as well as allow you to move that victim.

ALL PART OF THE SHOW helps to neutralize monsters that have the Terrify power or that have some other ability that allows them to move victims closer to them. While it does not prevent a victim from actually getting slain it hinders your opponent briefly making their monsters work for their meals.

TENT POLE is a great defensive card for figures that have stamina or invulnerability. This Plot Twist will help prevent monsters from dealing penetrating damage. This can be crucial when facing monsters that would normally do 1 or 2 damage because of abilities that cause penetrating damage.

Victim is reported as one Natalie Gurdin, a juggler for the traveling circus now referred to locally as the Freakshow. This is the first recent death we've encountered where no foul play is suspected as the victim was reportedly juggling chainsaws and, according to witnesses, slipped. This resulted in the victim's jugular being severed along with multiple lacerations along the torso and arms. Victim has no next of kin and the body will be released to the circus.

May 9, 2007 - HorrorClix: Freakshow New Powers List

HorrorClix Freakshow brings us a total of 11 new powers!  Here they all are-

  • Bloodlust-
Modify this monster's attack value by +1 for each victim token on its card.
  • Blood Scent-
If this monster begins its move within 3 spaces of an opposing monster, modify its speed value by +2.
  • Entice - Boot
Instead of moving this monster, choose a victim within 2 spaces of this monster and move it.
  • Fleshmelter - Pistol
If the attack succeeds against a single target, after dealing damage give the target an action token if the target has zero action tokens.
  • No Ranged Attack-
This monster can't be given ranged combat actions.
  • Portal-
Once during your hunting phase as a free action, you may place a portal in an empty space adjacent to this monster.
  • Reflexes-
Once per turn you may reroll one die from this monster's attack roll; you must use the rerolled result.
  • Second Sight-
During your suspense phase you can secretly look at any one face-down victim token, and then put it back face-down onto the same space.
  • Snap Shot - Boot
After this monster moves it may make a ranged combat attack as a free action.
  • Teleport -
During your hourglass phase, you can move this monster to an empty space adjacent to any monster (before dealing 1 unpreventable damage to this monster, if applicable).
  • Unseal -
When this monster attempts to smash a portal, the minimum required attack roll result is 10.
May 9, 2007 - Find The Freak contest!

We've just heard that there's a genuine freak in HorrorClix: Freakshow!  What could possibly earn this distinction in such a freakish set?  How about a one click monster?  Yep, you heard me right.  And to celebrate this oddity we're having a quick little contest.  The first three people to Find The Freak and identify him in the forum thread on the other side of that "Enter" link just above this entry will receive three custom Plot Twists of their choice!
And, yes, our site contains the clues you need to identify this freak

May 7, 2007 - Put your hands together for Morty and Chuckles...
HorrorClix: Freakshow Sneak Peek
Morty and Chuckles (FS-027)

First up is Morty and Chuckles! This figure actually takes advantage of the rather unique nature of the character with powers like Mind Control and Stamina. When playing this figure don’t worry about him catching a victim to reach frenzy status, as he is not going to be fast enough to be able to properly execute a frenzy-based attack. Instead, position Morty and Chuckles just within range of your opponent’s big guns and make use of Mind Control to possess their monsters and use them against him!

If your opponent decides to come after Morty and Chuckles he will be reasonably protected by his Stamina power, though if your opponent does manage to hit him he’ll just have to deal with Look at the Dummy!(Immobilize). This power gives your opponent an action token allowing the rest of your figures to come and help out this gruesome twosome.

When building around Morty and Chuckles be sure to grab a few figures with Slash and Martial Artist so that he can make use of his Mind Control. Morty may not be the fastest in the bunch, but once he catches his opponent he can be the most annoying piece on the field as he wreaks havoc with your opponent’s monsters!

Ladies and gentlemen! I now direct you to our next attraction. For your amusement I give you the master of voice throwing, the confounder of minds, I give you MORTY AND CHUCKLES. Ladies and gentlemen prepare to be astounded as you decide for yourselves who is the master and who is the dummy!

Morty and Chuckles

Chuckles: Hey Morty, what does a zombie eat for dessert?

Morty: Graaarrggghhhh….

Chuckles: Ladyfingers! HAW HAW!

Morty: Graaarrggghhhh….

Chuckles: Come on Morty crack a smile for the people! they’re eating this up….

Morty: Graaarrggghhhh…. Eat…?

Chuckles: Or should I say, you’re eating them up! HAW!

Zombies have been an integral part of the horror genre for decades, if not longer. With a well-known cast of archetypical characters such as the carny, the strongman, and, of course, the ventriloquist, the zombies in Freakshow were bound to be unique and diverse.

May 4, 2007 - Jar-Jar Binks Comes To HorrorClix

Have y'all seen the Pierced Zombie (FS-098)? He looks an awful lot like the cartoon character everyone loves to hate (at least IMHO).

Piereced Zombie

His full stats are posted on his page and you'll be able to pick him up at your Local Game Store's HorrorClix: Freakshow New Guy Night (NGN) held between June 1 and June 14, 2007.

May 2, 2007 - Civil War Comes To HorrorClix
Well, HeroClix just had a BIG Civil War event, and apparently the Civil War has leaked into our beloved HorrorClix as well.  Not sure what I'm talking about?  Well, click the "Discuss" link just above this post and see what our amazing forum regulars have figured out!
May 2, 2007 - More HorrorClix Freakshow Peeks & Site Updates

More HorrorClix Freakshow information came out today: Officer 13 has found a home in our gallery, as has the new Tightrope Walker victim. Also, full information on three new Plot Twists: Nice Kitty..., Bullwhip and Chair, and Escaped Anaconda.

We've also posted the rest of the entries into our April scenario contest (so if yours isn't posted let us know NOW), meaning we've got almost sixty different homegrown scenarios for y'all to explore.

May 1, 2007 - And ... I'm back

Couldn't afford to pay my phone/ISP bill, so they shut me down late last week (reason #85 to host the site on a separate server!) and I've been offline for the last few days, with only a couple quick stops at other computers to check for vital stuff.  But I managed to get them to turn it back on for now, so... I'm back!

Wasn't just sitting on my laurels, however, I managed to do quite a bit of work on the site.  Couldn't test it on the live site, so there still could be problems, but I reworked the rules/FAQ, powers, and classes/traits pages.  I also added a Plot Twists by Phase section as requested (then realized it needs to be reworked again by event rather than phase) and made a large number of cleanup and minor changes that y'all may or may not notice, but that make things run a little more smoothly.

April 25, 2007 - 33 Custom HorrorClix Scenarios!  WooHoo!!

I believe I've got all the scenario entries received thus far posted to the site and there are now 33 different homegrown scenarios for y'all to choose from!  See the latest at our contest entries page or check the whole list of custom HorrorClix scenarios.

There's still about 5 days left to get those entries in as well, so I trust that more will be showing up by the end of the month.

April 24, 2007 - Freakshow Previews Are Here!!!

Wiz Kids started previewing the next HorrorClix expansion today!  The first two Freakshow Plot Twists are FS-001 Step Right Up and FS-002 No Way That's Real..., both of which require a Carny to play.  They also previewed the first victim from the set, Safety Inspector.  Rock810 wrote a great preview article for them as well:

“Step right up, step right up!” the Ringmaster called. “Come see the most amazing show of freaks, geeks, and wonders not of this world!” Many in the crowd flinched at the stare of the Ringmaster, with his rictus grin and skin pulled taut over skeletal features, and several had to hold back gags at his scent, which smelled of rot. From inside a young boy yelled, “No way that’s real!” It was then that a blood-curdling shriek split the night from behind the dirty flaps of the tent. Instead of making them flee, the sound only enticed more people into the tent. “Step right up, step right up!” The spectators lined up like lambs to the slaughter . . . .

In HorrorClix, plot twists are one of the most important aspects of the game. They help to create the thematic aspect of the game, but they can quickly become the fine line between winning and losing. The 20 plot twists in Freakshow take the mechanic to a whole new level.

Starting with plot twists 001 and 002, we begin our descent into the freakshow.

The first card we’ll look at is Step Right Up. We have seen similar cards, but Step Right Up contributes an extra dash of flavor to the game. Playing this on a Carny has the potential to allow you to deny your opponent his or her suspense phase for one turn. Sideshows are great for attracting victims . . . um . . . marks . . . uh…customers—but it’s the man yelling “Step right up!” who sticks in everyone’s mind. In Freakshow, the man telling you it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance might just be setting you up for your last.

Barnum and Bailey gave the United States one of its first freak shows, and the tradition continues today. The most oft-heard comment at a freak show is “No way that’s real!” and we’ve duplicated that sentiment in Freakshow. The next plot twist we’re previewing, No Way That’s Real . . . , basically gives you two suspense phases, allowing you to move a victim during the preview phase as long as you have a Carny within 3 spaces of a victim. This can be very helpful to slower monsters or monsters that need to slay a victim in order to transform or use certain powers. When viewing a freak show, you might think the thing you are looking at is a fake of glue and paster—until it reaches out and takes a bite.

Today’s victim is noted as one A. E. Martin, a local Safety Inspector from Benthel, Connecticut. Victim was found in a drainage ditch along route 97 North. It is reported that several hours before his body was found, he was performing a safety inspection of the new sideshow that has rambled into town. The ringmaster who owns the show has been reported as saying the man stayed briefly and left suddenly. There are currently no witnesses to confirm or deny the coming or going of the victim, the clothes of which were badly ripped and soaked in blood (presumed to be his own). The victim has multiple gouges and bite marks along his right torso. He is missing his left hand and part of his left leg from the knee down. Victim has a large bite mark along the lower jaw and neck area. Plaster casts will be taken of the victim’s bite marks, but it is likely to be determined that the victim was subjected to a bear or mountain lion attack.

April 20, 2007 - Lotsa new stuff!

Greatfrito provided the first detailed look at the Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Action Pack in action with a little article we call The B.P.R.D. Goes A'Huntin'

We've got 23 entries to the HorrorClix Scenario Contest, meaning we only need two more to increase the prize levels!  The latest can be seen on our entries page.

Pumpkinhead missed out on our review contest, but that didn't stop him from sending in a few HorrorClix monster reviews of his own:
Tendril Queen (Lab-200)
Lab Assistant R (Lab-031)
Hardhat Zombie V (Lab-006)
Devil Imp V (HrC-024)
Hook R (HrC-073)

We're actually getting more traffic from The Philippines these days then even from the United Kingdom!  Despite their problems with delayed product (much like our European brethren) they've got a strong and growing HorrorClix community there, and we're proud to provide their online home in the new Philippines subforum.

April 18, 2007 - HorrorClix Variant Contest Winners!

And the winner of the first ever It's Wicked Fun HorrorClix Variant Contest is......

Drumroll please....

Survival HorrorClix - A Horrorclix Solitaire System by Uberman!!!
::and the crowd goes wild::

Overall the group decided that Uberman's Survival HorrorClix was not only very well done, as were many of the variants, but also the submission that added the most to the HorrorClix community as it gives a solid alternative to those who want to play HorrorClix but cannot find an opponent at that very moment.  It's also an excellent system for teaching/demoing the game to new HorrorClix players.  Honorable Mentions go out to: Connect Four: HorrorClix Edition for its crazy creativity and giving us a way to get the younger ones used to handling HorrorClix and Harry PotterClix for utilizing our random creative whim in such a detailed way.

It was a very difficult contest to judge, however, with so many incredible entries.  The regular HorrorClix group here at It's Wicked Fun played each of them and enjoyed them all.  We even used Rock.. Paper.. Clix! to determine who would get to play Hive Wars

A big congratulations to Uberman!  And don't forget to check out all the different variants that were worked on so hard to bring you more pleasure with your HorrorClix figures!

April 14, 2007 - Scenario Contest Entries

The forum regulars have whittled down the Variant entries to four finalists.
The winning variant will be announced on Wednesday.

We've received nine new scenario submissions for this month's contest, including our first ever contest submission from the Philippines (Charmaira's The Order of the Dragon)!

April 6, 2007 - Official Hellboy Errata
Valued Customer,

It has come to our attention that the recent release of the HeroClix: Hellboy™ and the B.P.R.D.™ Action Pack contains a number of misprints and a minor figure error. We as a company always strive to put out quality products on a schedule that will keep our fans enthused and engaged, but sometimes things go awry. While WizKids is unhappy with the errors that occurred, we are very happy with this product overall, and wanted you to know that we’re taking steps internally to ensure future products don’t have the same issues.

While an “absolute” solution to these issues is being determined, we have developed several errata fixes for you to use to play this great product as intended. Despite these small issues, we feel that this product is of high quality and an exceptional game play value. The sculpts, play balance and premise of the set are still (in our eyes) top notch, and this minor errata shouldn’t affect your gaming experience.

We hope that you find this news acceptable. We are working very hard on ramping up the excitement for the HeroClix 5th Anniversary and hope you will remain with us for the ride. If you have further questions or concerns regarding the HeroClix: Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Action Pack, please contact us at , and we will use your input to help us make all of our offerings the best products possible.

These errata are considered to be “official” HeroClix and HorrorClix rulings, and may be used immediately in sanctioned WizKids events. Information and documents regarding these pieces on the WizKids web site will be updated at the first opportunity to reflect these changes

April 5, 2007 - Variant Contest Finalist Voting
We received more than a dozen submissions for the variant contest this month! Everything from Connect Four to Drag Racing to Solitaire Systems to Brain Teasers. This just further proves how awesome our visitors truly are!

As always, we're rewarding all of those who got their variant published, but this poll is the community's chance to weigh in on who should take home the big prize.

Please read over at least most of the variants (collected here) before voting. These people put a lot of time into developing these variants for all of us to enjoy, at least give them the time required to read them before deciding their fate.

The variants that receive the most votes will go to the final round and the IWF crew will pick the final winner based on actually playing them.

Discussion is welcome in this thread!

Voting on this poll closes 10 days from its posted timestamp.
April 4, 2007 - Full Hellboy/B.P.R.D. data on site!
We've just finished posting full stats for all the B.P.R.D. monsters and added a PDF file of their monster cards.  We'd already posted the victims and Plot Twists for the set a couple days back.

WizKids announces special European release of HorrorClix: The Lab
Over a year ago, WizKids and our manufacturers changed our production procedures to meet testing requirements for plastic toys sold in Europe in advance of the required date of January 1, 2007. In that month, WizKids released the latest expansion for our HorrorClix CMG, The Lab worldwide. The testing of HorrorClix: The Lab was the first time in which we received unsatisfactory results, and we had to make the hard decision to not release the product in Europe while we reviewed the matter.

This has led to several months of uncertainty for HorrorClix fans in the EU. We’ve been working diligently behind the scenes with our manufacturer in light of the fact that we have not been able to provide The Lab to our distributors, retailers, and consumers in the European community.

To show our continued support and in appreciation of our European distributors, retailers and customers, WizKids is happy to announce the following actions as a result of the unintended delay of HorrorClix: The Lab in Europe.

I. WizKids will release AVP: Aliens and AVP: Predators through retail worldwide

As The Lab was the entry point to getting the AVP: Predators Collector’s Set, we want to open make it easier to get the AVP set. This product is being solicited now through distribution for a May 9, 2007 street date worldwide.

II. WizKids will offer a special reprint of The Lab exclusively for the EU

This reprint would be a brand-new product. This product would have new and different packaging, specifically branded with “European Edition”. We expect this product will release by mid-August 2007.

III. The European Edition will include preview figures from the upcoming HorrorClix set “Nightmares”

HorrorClix: The Lab will contain 2 figures from the Fall 2007 release of Nightmares. These will not be super-chase figures but rather added to the product mix at the RARE level. The character cards for these pieces will be stamped “Nightmares Preview Figure” to easily identify it. Dials and stats will be identical to the eventual release in Nightmares.

IV. Value-Add: the “buy it by the brick” program for The Lab European Edition

In addition to the Cloaking Predator figure, European Clix Brick purchasers of The Lab will receive the much-discussed Zombie Astronaut figure promo that was originally dropped from The Lab. This is a repaint of the Evil Cosmonaut figure. This figure will then be added to the worldwide brick program for Nightmares.

V. Offer more maps for retailers who purchase The Lab EE
European retailers who order 1 case of HorrorClix: The Lab European Edition will receive 10 HorrorClix maps to distribute to their players and help promote in-store play.

We appreciate the patience of our HorrorClix fans in Europe and believe these special incentives will make your wait worthwhile. Thank you for your continued support of WizKids and HorrorClix.

WizKids, Inc.
April 3, 2007 - UK (and EU?) to get AvP at Retail in May!

According to a reliable source on our forums, today retailers in the UK were allowed to order both AvP: Aliens and AvP: Predators Collector Sets for retail sale in their stores come May!  This is excellent news for our Lab-less UK brethren.

Hopefully this applies to the entire EU, though we're still waiting for confirmation of that.

April 3, 2007 - Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. cardboard

Thanks to Rock over at HCRealms, we've just posted the victims and Plot Twists from the Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Action Pack (which releases tomorrow).

I, for one, really hope that's not the new look of plot twists, cause it's WAY too comicbooky.

April 3, 2007 - Last chance to enter the Variants Contest!

The (extended) deadline to submit your Variant to our contest is tonight at 11:59pm PDT.

We received several submissions that were more campaign rules than actual game variants, so have decided to accept those as early submissions to our May contest: HorrorClix Campaign Systems.  The two full submissions for campaign style play can be seen here.

The latest submissions posted are:

Dragula Racing - Gentlemonsters!  Start Your Engines! by Mad Jack Bhikkhu
HorrorClix Chess - Monsters invade the King's Game by mpittman
Rock... Paper... Clix! - Roshambo comes to Clix! by The 4th Horseman
The Haunted Casino - Campaign play by Nate "RedNinja" Gleason

April 2, 2007 - AvP: Predators Collectors Set Available To All!
As of this morning, anyone with a WizKids ID can order the AvP: Predators Collector's Set directly from WK.  No coupon required!
March 30, 2007 - You May Never Read The Rulebook Again....

With all the variants that have already rolled in, you could play weekly games for more than 2 months and never use the standard rules!  And we've still got more coming!
Added today-

Connect Four - Tha classic kids game with a monstrous twist by Thumper
HorrorClix Gets Physical - Keltvia swears it's not a drinking game
Hive Wars - Ever wanted to play Queen vs Queen?  So has The 4th Horseman

March 29, 2007 - Oops! Late March Contest Changes

EDIT: Winner gets one line from Prize Pool G, not F!!  Sorry for the typo and confusion.

We realized we'd made a big mistake on the March variant/other games contest. Our participation prize was way too weak given the complexity of making a new rulesset.  So we've upped the Participation Prize to one line from Prize Pool D.  The winner will receive their choice of a single line from Prize Pool G .

We've also extended the deadline a few days to give y'all the weekend to finish these up.  The new deadline is 11:59PM PDT on Tuesday, April 3, 2007.

I've still got one submission (Hive Wars) I'm working on editing/formating, but the other six received thus far can be seen here.

March 28, 2007 - Review Contest Results

We had a total of 162 reviews submitted to our first HorrorClix contest here at It's Wicked Fun!  There were 78 monster reviews (for 66 different monsters), 72 Plot Twist reviews, 9 power reviews, 1 map review, 1 Cabal review, and 1 review of a game mechanic. Thank you all for your participation!

Before I announce the winners I just want to remind everyone that there are only 3 days left to submit your HorrorClic variant rules for the March contest!  Details here.

We didn't have enough entries for a special Monster or Power review prizes, but we did for Plot Twists.  Plot Twist reviews are easy to write, but difficult to make both interesting and useful.  Our winner managed both-
Congratulations to Nate "RedNinja" Gleason for his review of Lab-008 Temporal Disruptor!

With 162 entries we ended up with 10 Third place winners:
Third Prize - Assassin by Weyoun's Last Clone
Third Prize - Athena by MarchHare
Third Prize - Corp Response V by MarchHare
Third Prize - Faith Priest R by Andrew “Templar147” Koeling
Third Prize - Hook V by Matt Pittman
Third Prize - Rasputin by rogueberg
Third Prize - Possession by Weyoun's Last Clone
Third Prize - Tomb Mummy by Andrew “Templar147” Koeling
Third Prize - Valerie Elle by Nate “RedNinja” Gleason
Third Prize - Widow Octavia by Nate “RedNinja” Gleason

Second Prize - Furies Cabal by Weyoun's Last Clone
Second Prize - Pyramid Upper Level Map by TylerDrake
Second Prize - Runaway E by Tamlin
Second Prize - Insect Man R by Joel "jthesquid" Gibson

First Prize - The Great Cthulhu by Wes Grollums
First Prize - The Importance of Movement by HK-47/WalkingDead

And, by unanimous decision, our Grand Prize Winner-
Keltvia for The Plot Twist Oscars: Base Set Edition

Congratulations to all our winners and another thanks to all for their submissions!
I'll be contacting each of you to get your participation prizes and awards.

March 26, 2006 - More Variants Posted

While I've been playing catchup, y'all have been busy working on variants for the March Contest!

I've just added variant rules for Harry PotterClix and the Struggletown Campaign to the site and have another variant in the editing process right now. Don't forget to check the Recent Entries page to see if there's anything you missed.

If you've been considering whether or not to enter your variant, then maybe the news that the First Place prize will, indeed, be your choice of a single line item from Prize Pool G will be the nudge you need to get it submitted before the March 31st deadline!

No, we have not forgotten about the review contest.  But it is taking longer than expected for the entire IWF crew to read over and "rate" all the reviews.  News will be coming soon, I promise!

March 21, 2006 - "Fame" has its privileges :)

ADDED NOTE: There's WAY too much info from WWLA and Games Expo to keep posting it all to this news page.  Check our forums if you want all the latest info I pried out of the WizKids.

At WWLA I had many peoplpe come up to me and tell me how much they liked the site.  (To all of you - thanks right back at ya!  It's good to know our work is appreciated.)  However, one person was so impressed that they decided to use us to leak some info WAY in advance.  All I can say is if you don't like spoilers, don't go visiting our monsters page any time in the near future!

DISCLAIMER: I did not ask any WizKids employee for any confidential information at any time and all information that I was asked to keep confidential HAS been kept confidential.  I'm not the leak, I'm just the guy reporting on other leaks.  And if any of this info was released at EAN, remember that I didn't arrive in LA until Sunday morning.

At Games Expo on Tuesday I was told by Kelly that my list was an old, out of date one, (based on the mention of a single figure), so don't take what you see as gospel, but we're pretty confident or you wouldn't be seeing it here.  And I'm sure this is the first time many of those names will appear on your screens.

March 21, 2006 - Proof I Should NEVER take pictures!

Okay, they look like crap, but no one seems to have released any others yet and these were at least taken with permission (how did Mark know I was such a horrible photographer?):

March 16, 2007 - Road Trip!

Wizard World Los Angeles (WWLA) starts today and Games Expo 2007 (in Las Vegas) starts Monday and runs through Thursday.

I will be attending part of both events (Sunday-Tuesday).  This means I'll be out of town and (probably) offline until Wednesday, so y'all with have to hold your breath or find your updates elsewhere (I recommend our forums).

The good news is that Wednesday evening I'll be back with LOADS of updates and news from spending three days pestering the WizKids in person.

March 16, 2007 - Map Sale extended for you night owls!

We've decided to extend the deadline on the Tull/Springer map orders until 10am PDT today in order to better serve our European and other overseas visitors.  It won't be extended any further, so if you want these maps, you need to order them now.

March 15, 2007 - One Day Only Map Sale!

As announced yesterday, I have been working hard on a Jerry Springer scenario. Part of that was having a custom map of the Springer Studio made by couchmonkeyhero.

I've also been working for a couple of weeks with some map makers to get custom maps printed and delivered to y'all.

Today I'm offering two of these maps for sale, but, I will need to place the order by midnight tonight in order to have the Springer maps in time for playtesting. I realize this is short notice, but I'm on a tight schedule for this convention map. As set-up fees are the most expensive part of the process, a second "print run" is unlikely.

The deal is actually a single double sided map. One side is the Springer Studio and the other side is called Tull, a kind of western scene, created by Falloutboy12.

Cost, delivered anywhere, will be $20. Payment must be made today via PayPal (to ) as I need to prepay for the maps. If we have enough ordered that price will actually go down, in which case I will do partial refunds to those who have already prepaid.

Springer Studio Map  Tull Map

The image quality is better than the online images, of course. And they may still be tweaked somewhat as well (such as fixing the lettering on Springer), but this gives you the basic idea.

Let me know if you're interested!

March 14, 2007 - Classic Springer: Monsters In Da House!

It's Wicked Fun will be running a Jerry Springer Show based HorrorClix scenario at ConQuest Sac II on April 14th and we've just posted the scenario: Classic Springer: Monsters In Da House!

We'll also have custom Springer-based victims, Plot Twists and a special Springer Studio map!  The current PT's can be seen in our forums along with our one week only Springer Plot Twist contest that could net you a complete set of Springer PTs!

Speaking of contests, voting is currently occuring in our Flavor Text contest and there's only a couple of days left to enter our review contest.  We've received nearly 150 reviews so far, including more than 30 just yesterday!

And don't forget about the HorrorClix Variants contest!  Only three entries so far, with a couple of weeks left to get yours in!

March 8, 2007 - Fast and Furious

That's how the submissions are coming in!  So fast that I've been so busy updating the site that I haven't had time to update y'all with what I've been doing-

There was a WizKids Retailer Chat on Tuesday.  Not much was said, but here's the transcript.
New custom Plot Twists from Aahz, demolitiondude and Kavik1969.
More entries for our review contest.
More than 80 photos from New York Comic Con thanks to Kavik1969
Several entries for our HorrrorClix Variants contest.
More than 50 corrections to monsters from The Lab (thanx DariusCole)
A rather sad article on Buying HorrorClix Online
More Cheat Sheets, Checklists, and Monster Card docs
And I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting since...

Meanwhile our forums are averaging 100 new posts per day! WooHoo!
And speaking of our forums, the forum only Flavor Text Contest ends on Sunday!

It's new contest time! (Yes the old contests are still running as well, see below)

The March contest (running through March 31st) is the "Other HorrorClix Games" contest.

Basically, we want to know how you have fun with your HorrorClix figures OTHER than by following the standard rulebook. Do you have a solitaire system? Have you crossed HorrorClix with a game like Zombies? MunchkinClix? What about HorrorClix Chess? Zombie baseball? Werewolf curling? Whatever it is, we want to know about it!

Not that we're not still having fun playing the "old fashioned" way, but we've got a couple of months until anything NEW comes out, so help us fill the time!

1) Submissions must be a complete rules set, not a scenario, and not just "HorrorClix Basketball: Toss your Skeletal Maiden's in the trash can! lol)
2) Rules must be submitted to by 11:59pm PST on March 31, 2007
3) All accepted submissions will receive a line item of their choice from Pize Pool A
4) Feel free to post your possible entries in our contests forum to get feedback before submitting for the contest.
5) The winning submission will receive a line of their choice from Prize Pool F . Unless...
6) If we receive more than 5 submissions the winner will receive a line of their choice from Prize Pool G .
7) All standard contest rules apply.

You may recall that untimelydemise won the Aliens vs. Predators battle at New York ComicCon (NYCC).  Well, she just sent us scans of the Predator Plot Twist cards as well as the two scenarios included in the Collector's Set.
February 28, 2007 - Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Packaging
Not much else to say...except that if you can make out the figure # for any of these I'd love to hear 'em!

February 28, 2007 - Lotsa Updates!

Where to start?  DariusCole just updated his Excel Checklist to include the AvP material.

TylerDrake submitted his latest Ideas from The Extras Bin - Salvation For Loyal Minions.

The forums are going strong with more than 700 posts in the first trwo weeks of their existence!

I've posted all of the Approved Play Scenarios for The Lab (despite WizKids lagging on these).

You can win an Alien, Predator or Apprentice Hunter in the AvP Flavor Text Contest or your choice of the AvP sets (or maybe even Vlad The Impaler) in the Review Contest.

Oh, and I made some Smurf victims because I needed to blow off some steam ;-)

February 26, 2007 - New Excel Checklist!
DariusCole has been kind enough to update the Excel Checklist originally created by Daniel Schorr. All of the links have been updated for WizKids latest URL changes and he's included all of the new stuff from The Lab as well as AvP: Predators.  It's only missing the Alien Queen set as far as I can tell. He's got plans for more nifty stuff as well, and we'll keep an updated copy available from the top of our Monsters page.  You can also use this download link
February 26, 2007 - Congratulations to untimelydemise!

Not only was she the overall winner in the Battle For Alien Queen event at New York Comic Con this last weekend, but she also managed to defeat HorrorClix Assistant Brand Manager Wade Sugiyama in a recreation of Alien vs. Predator (she was the Aliens).

Her prize included a full set of AvP: Predators and she was kind enough to point out several errors in the WK Gallery regarding their dials.  These corrections have been incorporated into our gallery now, so that it matches the actual dials rather thn WK site.
And thanks to HK-47 we've now got the full text of the AVP: Predators Plot Twists as well!

February 24, 2007 - Now we've got it all!

We've got forums!!! Yes, now you can gab about all things HorrorClix right here at It's Wicked Fun!!
They're free, of course, and open to all! We've got individual forums dedicated to most aspects of the game, as well as regional forums to discuss and promote your face-to-face events and a calendar of upcoming live events! All waiting for you!

Just register an account and add a single post to our rules forum and you're free to go!

BTW, that's where those "Discuss" links on each new news item head as well :)

We've changed the menus on the main site to reflect the forums and (hopefully) solve the issues some people were having with the old ones. If notice anything buggy with them (or ANYTHING on the site) please drop us an email or post it to the Site Corrections forum. Enjoy!!

February 22, 2006 - Exciting Contest updates! (w/ 3 weeks to go!)

As of today we have received more than 80 entries for our review contest from more than 3 countries! Not bad for one week. When we first conceived of the contest we had no idea what type of response we would have, but we're certainly pleased.

You've been generous with us, so we're going to return that generosity by adding prize levels! Oh and we've added more stuff to the Prize Pool as well ;-)

Fist Place:
Grand Prize - one item from Pool F (One Winner)
First Prize - one item from Pool E (Two Winners)
Second Prize - one item from Pool D (Four Winners)
Third Prize - one item from Pool C (Four Winners)

Additionally, we'll add one more Winner to the Third Prize level for each 10 reviews we receive over 100!

But that's not all!
If we receive reviews to more than 100 different figures then the best figure review will receive their choice of one item from Prize Pool G
If we receive reviews to more than 50 different powers then the best power review will receive their choice of one item from Prize Pool E
We've already received reviews or almost every Plot Twist in the game, so the best Plot Twist review will receive their choice of one item from Prize Pool D

Yes, each entry still earns the submitter a custom victim or minion.
Yes, a single submitter may win more than one prize.
Yes, you can submit reviews that have been posted/published elsewhere (as long as that location does not own exclusive rights).
Yes, you still have more than three weeks to submit your review(s).
Yes, all of our standard contest rules apply.

February 22, 2006 - New source brings us Elder Predator info!
We just got dropped a note from a new source providing us with the card for the Elder Predator (AvP-017).  Two words: Nuclear Strike!
February 21, 2007 - And now, for something freaky...

The Alien Queen was a dissapointment for me, but the real bombshell news of the day comes from Kelly Bonilla, HorrorClix Game Designer, which, when combined with info from other sources, gives us some SWEET info on Freakshow...

A fair amount of info on new monsters...

A New Class: Carny...

13 additional cabal members...

17 new Guardians including the Unique Templar...

10 New Powers - including Blood Scent, Second Sight, and Reflexes... (details on our Powers page)

There WILL be a New Guy Night and the figure for it is Pierced Zombie (FS-098)...

The LE Plot Twists will contain Ticking Clock cards for Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombie. Even better, thes new TCs have no prerequisites! Huzzah!

Two other new LE Plot Twists include Popcorn Trail and Sideshow Escapee

February 21, 2007 - Whew!  Alien Queen Info At Last!

It took a few hours, four stores in three counties and over 150 miles of driving, but I've finally got my paws on an Alien Queen Action Pack and have the bulk of the info posted to the site.

I still need to colorize the dials and post the Plot Twists, but I'm working on that even as you read this (if I'm not done yet).

Check out the Alien Queen, The Egg Base, Alien and Predator.

February 21, 2007 - No Work Done Tonight :(
I sat down to update the site this evening and ended up having to spend 6 hours diagnosing and trying to solve problems with our drop down menus that I was previously unaware of.  I THINK I have the problem solved and have some people checking on it, so y'all should see the changes soon.
However, as a result I was unable to get any of the updates planned for today done.  They're still coming I promise.  It occaisionally becomes all to apparent that this is a hobby website largely run by one person in his spare time.  This is one of those days.
February 20, 2007 - I Can't Keep Up!! (And love it!!)
Yesterday was my daughters birthday, and y'all sent us some great gisfts in the form of so many reviews that I haven't had a chance to post them all yet!  But that's not a plea to slow down!  Keep 'em comin' 'cause we're loving this!
Several folx have submitted their reviews more in article format, so we've had to build a new section for the site.  Again, we love it!  Keep 'em coming!
Check out the latest entries or the new articles/columns page!

I promise I'll get more posted tomorrow and as a bonus to all who have worked so hard, we're upping the prize levels!!  We've got nearly 50 reviews in already(!), so we're going to add a few more prizes to the pool.  Full details late tomorrow evening once the crew has had a chance to check "the books".
February 19, 2007 - Finally, some Alien Queen info!

Thanks to a secret source we managed to get copies of the cards for the Alien Queen Action Pack! Still no dials and stuff, but at least it's something. Hopefully WK will be forthcoming with more info later today, but to tide y'all over you can cheq AvP-008 & AvP-009 from our monsters page and check out the new powers on the power page.

February 18, 2007 - NEWSFLASH!
Prepare for HorrorClix: Nightmares - Fall 2007

Thanks to couchmonkeyhero we just got news that the set after Freakshow (scheduled for Fall 2007) is called Nightmares!

He also sent along a couple new pics of Freakshow figs.
Zombie Strongman New jester?

In other news, be sure to check the "entries received" page to see the latest reviews submitted and our Custom Plot Twist page for some new goodies as well.

February 17, 2007 - Review Contest Update
Thanks to mpittman we've entered the next prize plateau in the review contest.  So keep those reviews coming!
We were really hoping to get some reviews of some Plot Twist cards as well as figures, so don't hold back on those either.
February 16, 2007 - AvP Alien Queen info
We finally got a little more info about the Alien Queen set by way of a "Strategy" Article by Bill Rock (that contained zero strategy but some nice insight into what's in the Action Pack).
There are two minions in the Action Pack, which can now be seen on our minion page. And the Alien Queen Rules can be seen on our rules page.

In site news we posted our very own Facehugger minions & victims as well as fulfilling requests for both victims and minions from The Devil's Rejects, South Park, Aliens, The Lone Gunmen, and Harry Potter.
February 15, 2007 - Reviews Coming In
We've created a page for people to keep up with what entries have been received here.

The first three entries for our review contest have arrived: Stoker, Jack The Ripper, and The Great Cthulhu. We're looking forward to reading more of YOUR reviews in the near future.  It's fine to review something already reviewed by someone else, by the way.  Every opinion is equally valid.  So get those submissions in today!
February 14, 2007 - Happy Freakshow Valentines!
Psst... Shuriken Predator is up as well

February 12, 2007 - Zombie Astronaut No More :-(
We're pretty late with this news due to our ISP problems, but for those who haven't heard the Zombie Astronaut (Lab-098) is no more.  Here's the official word from Mark Tuttle:

Hey guys,

Sorry I couldn't get to this sooner. The Zombie Astronaut was a promotional piece that was created by doing a repaint of a the Evil Cosmonaut utilizing a slightly more familiar color scheme for an astronaut.

You have all heard before that our production timeline is VERY long so we put things into place pretty far out from release. In the case of the ZA, it fell victim to the mail-away promotions that we put on hold pending review of the program. Hence, the only existing copy of the piece made is sitting on my desk. (And no, you cannot have it. Although, it would be a cool promotion, wouldn't it?)

It could possibly appear in the future, maybe. But for now, it's not any kind of mystery chase piece or anything.

Mark Tuttle
February 12, 2007 - We're Baaaaaccckkkk!!!
Thanks to our ISP (Verizon sucks, but will soon be replaced), we've not had internet access for the last week.  But we're back and the site's been updated with all the Limited Edition plot twists, minions and victims from The Lab Approved Play, full stats for the Apprentice Hunter, more booster pulls, HorrorClix ad scans, and more.  Give us a day or so to get caught up on back emails, etc and we'll be making regular updates again by Wednesday.  Our apologies to those unable to get their HorrorClix fix.
February 5, 2007 - Updated Rarities
I've updated the rarity page to better reflect some new information.  It seems 3,299 cases of Lab boosters were made (down from 4,167 of the base set).  We also just learned that 154 "factory sets" of the base set were produced, so added that info as well.  No word yet on how many Lab "factory sets" were made.
February 5, 2007 - A Genuine Exclusive Scoop!
I can pretty much guarantee we're the first place to find out the FULL details on AvP-013 Martial Predator right now at 11:10am PST!!  Thanks to our source!!
And check out the info on AvP-012 Pole-Arm Predator as well!
Okay, so we only scooped WK by about 15 minutes, but still a scoop all the same :-)
February 5, 2007 - AvP Predators Info Creeping In
We are slowly, but surely receiving more info about the Predators in the AvP: Predators collector set.  We have names, pics and point values for all of them and even a dial for the Martial Predator.  Many thanks to all of those collecting and sharing this data.
February 4, 2007 - Classes/Traits Chart Done!
With the release of The Lab a hue and cry went up in the community for a list of monsters by Class or Trait.  We heard that cry and have answered that call!  You can now see the current HorrorClix monsters by Class/Trait here!
February 3, 2007 - Hellboy Pics!!!!
Thanks to Inquest Gamer magazine we now have (mediocre) pics of all 7 figures in the Hellboy Action Pack (due in April).  The seven figures in the set are: Hellboy, Abe Sapien, Ben Daimio, Hellbaby, Johann Strauss, Liz Sherman, and Roger.
February 3. 2007 - Lab Gallery Nearly Complete
All of the monster from HorrorClix -: The Lab now have both cards and dials.  Still nee dto the ad the flavor text for many monsters and the artist and rarity for some as well.  Next up will be the suddenly in high demand list of monsters by class/trait.
February 1, 2007 - Colation of The Lab called "Best Ever"!

A fan of the site and figure dealer sent us the following email that we thought we'd share with you:

I think you (and your readers) will be interested in hearing about the distribution of the figures, and the packaging.  This is one of the best sets, if not THE best set, of CMG figures from Wizkids.

We've cracked 7 cases so far, and only have 11 un-sellable figures.  Half of those because of no monster card, half because the card is too bent, and 1 severely bent over figure.  All the rest of the figures and cards are in great shape!  Seven cases, by the way, is a total of 1344 figures, and only 11 had problems!  That is BY FAR the best packaging record for Wizkids, and we've opened literally hundreds of cases of HeroClix and HorrorClix.

The other thing I'd like to mention is distribution of the figures.  Many people may not like the distribution, because they're missing a figure or two from their case.  But after opening 7 cases, I can tell you that the distribution is near perfect.  Yes, the high-numbered Vets and Experienced figures are hard to get.  But when you do the math, the number of figures is very accurate.  For instance, Velociraptors are a hot figure.  The number of R-E-V figs in 7 cases was 14-7-6.  So almost every case had a Vet.  The other figures with the same rarity (Lab Gorilla thru Man in Black) had almost identical distribution!   The same holds true for the other rarity levels.  Overall, we were very impressed with the packaging and distribution.

I hope Wizkids stays with this factory, because they did an awesome job!

February 1, 2007 - Is The Lab old news?
The Lab has been out for 24 hours now and I'm getting slammed with requests for more info on "what's next".  Well, here's the latest advertisement for the AvP: Predators Collector's Set-

January 31, 2007 - Booster Pulls Posted
For those who are interested in such things we will be posting all of the pulls from boosters of HorrorClix: The Lab that we at It's Wicked Fun open here.
January 31, 2007 - European Launch of HorrorClix: The Lab Delayed!
Our sympathies go out to those in the EU that have been unable to get their Lab fix today.  If it helps, here's the odfficial word from WizKids.  You can comment or question on their forums.

Hey guys,

Here's a quick update on The Lab release in Europe (EU).

WizKids and our manufacturing partners have been manufacturing our products in accordance with current U.S. and European standards for plastic products. With the HorrorClix: The Lab product release, we have decided to withhold the distribution and sale of this product in Europe, pending final analysis and testing, to ensure we comply with the European standards. WizKids remains committed to producing its products to meet government standards where applicable.

As soon as we know when we can release, we'll let everyone know.

Mark Tuttle
January 31, 2007 - The Lab Is Here!!
The Lab arrived in shops today!  Did you get yours?
Lab Brick Coupon
Each case comes with not only the four bricks of boosters, but the prize support plot twists and minions for the first month, an approved play calendar, a poster showing all of the figures from The Lab, and a full color copy of the Buy It By The Brick coupon (above).
Obviosuly we'll be updating the site with all the new info and scans over the next few days.
January 30, 2007 - Another New Plot Twist!

WizKids announced today that they are releasing a limited edition Plot Twist in issue #143 of Inquest Gamer (scheduled street date: February 7, 2007) .  They also announced that Scrye #106 would contain a PT in issue #106 (scheduled street date: January 31, 2007) but y'all already knew about that one since we posted it last week :-)

Both cards are currently available for your viewing pleasure here: Ambush Sated

January 29, 2007 - You Call This A Day Off?
Mondays are supposed to be my day off, but today sure didn't feel like one.
The relevant portion:  WizKids posted the full stats for the LE figures from The Lab.  You can see them in their gallery.  I haven't had time to post them here yet and am too tired to do so now because...
The non-relevant portion: While running errands I received a call from my boss that the cops had kicked in my front door and arrested one of my roommates/clients.  The rest of the day was spent trying to find out WHY the police felt the need to break down two doors in my house (no one has been willing to tell me yet) and to get my roommate/client out of jail: unsuccessfully.
Sometimes life sucks.

The LE figs and a scan of the Scrye Plot Twist, Sated, are next on the list to be added to the site.  Hopefully tomorrow, if the local police are more cooperative.
January 29, 2007 - Custom Victims Revamped
Based on feedback on the first couple print runs of our custom victim tokens I've reworked and standardized almost all of them.  The images on the website are still not as high quality as the ones we print here, but that's a matter of bandwidth and technology.
The only ones that haven't been reworked yet are those darn Harry Potter kids as I need to figure out what to do with the House emblems.  Probably tomorrow.  And then I'll rework the Plot Twists as well before making any more new customs.
January 28, 2007 - Over 2/3 of The Lab Now Up!
Thanks to everyone who emailed or posted info from The Lab in various spots, we now have stats for all the new victims and minions, game text of all the new Plot Twists, and complete stats and dials for more than two-thirds of the monsters in The Lab!
January 27, 2007 - We've Been Reported to the UK Authorities!  Oh no!

I received more hate mail from Tania de Pauw Saturday morning.  This time demanding that I remove original content from my website.  She also forwarded her demand to Jonas Saunders (Web Content & Approved Play/Envoy Program Manager), Ruth Tudhope (Marketing Manager, WizKids Europe), and Anup Dave (UK Approved Play and Support ). She asserted that I violated some portion of the envoy contract.  It's difficult to judge wether or not I did as she did not cite what rule was violated (and she does have a history making up her own rules after the fact, regardless of wether she wishes to follow them herself).  One would think that plagiarism would violate the contract, but I can't find that section in the contract either and since she's a Level 5 Regional Envoy to two countries in almost all WizKids lines it clearly isn't.  Considering this website belongs to a gaming group and that WizKids no longer formally acknowledges gaming groups in any way it'd be a tough case to make that their envoy contract holds any sway over the content of this site anyway.

For those who could care less (you've probably not read this far anyway, but...) there's more stuff from The Lab to see.  For those who are interested (or are investigating the supposed charges) you can catch up on the entire tale (including all emails by both parties) by checking this page.

January 26, 2007 - The Lab Plot Twists Complete!
Badgerbite just posted the text of the last two Lab Plot Twists we were missing!!
January 26, 2007 - Aliens Attack!
WizKids has posted an article on basic strategy for the HorrorClix AvP Aliens set over at their site.  You might want to check it out while waiting for the next sneak peek at The Lab.  Those peeks have slowed considerably as we've got roughly 2/3 of the set already posted, so there's not much more new info to be had at this point....
January 26, 2007 - Freakshow preview in Inquest #145!!

Drax 2099 reports-
The latest issue of Diamonds Previews features a solicitation for Inquest Gamer #145 which in turn features the blurb "BELIEVE IT OR NOT HORRORCLIX FREAKSHOW" then it has a picture of the Lab Gorilla.
In Games and Comic Shops April 4, 2007 On Newsstands April 17, 2007.
It's also Diamond's Gem Of The month Magazine and is listed on page 202 of Previews.

I guess it's time to preorder Inquest #145 at your local shops!

January 26, 2007 - Better info on the Belgium Pre-release

Weyouns_Last_Clone (who is Dutch) was kind enough to send us a better translation of the Belgium pre-release announcement:

"when: Saturday 27/01/07
when: 14:00
where: Outpost Antwerpen

Everyone who wants to come HAS to register at the wizkids site, under the following eventid: 659961.
Small detail maybe, but this is a FREE pre-release. Indeed, you don’t have to pay anything for the boosters to play with.
So everyone go there!"

Ironically, shortly before receiving his kind and helpful email I received hate mail from the webmistress over there, De Pauw Tania, who was offended that I answered some questions in their forums by linking to the information here.  She deleted my posts, felt the need to inform me that she was a "regional envoy" and that she refused all links to commercial sites.  Strangely enough she feels its okay to sell her own stuff on the forum and allows links to actual commercial sites (despite her emailed assertions that there were none), but it's somehow offensive for me to link to the extensive information we have here.  It takes all kinds on the 'net I suppose.

January 25, 2007 - We really need to find the time to build our forums :(

From the WizKids Site...
In order to perform needed maintenance, the WizKids Discussion Forums will be taken down Thursday, January 25 at 3:00 PM, PST.

We expect that the forums will be ready for use again on Friday, January 26th. Should it appear that maintenance will continue through the weekend, a further announcement will be made.

We are sorry for any inconvenience these maintenance sessions may have caused, and thank you again for your patronage and patience.

January 25, 2007 - Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Many visitors have been emailing us info and files for the site!  Thank you all!!
Our goal is to have this be a community site and it's great to see so many people jumping in!
The more input we get from y'all the better the site will be!  Notes on typos, mistakes or weird stuff on the site is always welcome as well!

We just added the ranks for some of the AvP Predators thanks to Dave and PseudoTheist sent in the Word files he compiled of all the monster cards which can now be downloaded from the bottom of the Monsters page in the Reference section.

A note about credit: We LOVE to give credit where credit is due and always try to do so.  however we know that many people are touchy about their real neames being used on the 'net, so we usually credit screen names.  If you would prefer you be credited one way or the other just let us know!  If you feel you should have been credited and weren't just lets us know!
And if you'd like a link with your credit (to a site or email) just let us know!
We're slammed with incoming Lab info right now (besides work, eBay auctions closing, real world games, life, etc) so the big site updates will be on hold until the first or second week of February, but first on that list is Forums for the site so we can all get to know each other!

January 24, 2007 - Time For A Little Social Experiment...

I have two addictions:  one is obviously HorrorClix and the other is eBay. Since day one I have been amazed at the behavior of some eBay bidders.  Getting in a bidding war over an item they could have one listing down for less, or bidding WAY beyond retail on a currently available item, or just simply acting in a ridiculous manor.  So, I've decided to undergo a small social experiment:

At 6:45am PST today (about 4 hours after I type it) four listings will go live on eBay offering the opportunity to receive figures from The Lab before their street date!  These are one day auctions that I'm starting at $0.99 each with no reserve. If they don't sell I'm out $2.60 in eBay listing fees.  If they all 4 sell at opening bid to different buyers I'll actually lose about $4.00 in the process.  But I'm curious.  How high will they go?  What will people pay to have HorrorClix The Lab figures a couple of days before street date?

I'm sure this experiment will irritate some (don't most social experiments?).  There will be those that say I am just in it for the money, or I don't appreciate the fact that I received a free booster, or whatever.  But I'm just curious.  This will probably cost me the opportunity to ever receive any type of advance freebie from WizKids ever again, but I'm willing to take that risk.  As for the figures themselves, I currently have two and a half cases of The Lab on order from various spots, plus the product I'll buy for sealed events, so I have no doubt that I'll get these figures once again.  Sure, their replacements won't mean as much to me as being honored to receive these ones in advance, but I simply can't help myself.  An opportunity for this type of experiment doesn't come along very often.

For those who would like to watch along with me, just check out our current eBay listings by visiting this link after 6:45am

Unfortunately our forums aren't up yet to dicuss this experiment and I'm afraid to post it on the WizKids forum for fear they'll think I'm pushing my listings (I'm not!) and it's a violation of their policy to link to eBy anyway.  I also don't want to post to HrC Realms for fear of tainting the experiment. So I've decided that any who wish to comment on the experiment can just email me  through the link at the top of the page and I'll post any received emails here on the site (unless specifically asked not to and with all return addresses stripped of course)

January 23, 2007 - A Tear To My Eye...
I had just finished writing up a post about loving HorrorClix so much that I not only envoy for free, but actually pay for the priviledge when my doorbell rang and I received a wonderful package from Leslie Wu & Mark Tuttle:  A preview pack of The Lab along with a letter thanking me for my contributions to the online HorrorClix community.
Being recognized in this way after being in the game such a short time truly touched me.
Thanks guys!

January 2, 2007 - Another map at last!!

While more maps are certainly a plus, this isn't really how I'd prefer WK go about it.  However, the inclusion of the Stephens Bros. Carnival map does lend weight to the rumour that the set after The Lab will be called Freak Show.  Something that warms our twisted little hearts.

Map Pack—Free with Purchase!

HeroClix and HorrorClix players are always asking for the same thing: more maps! The double-sided map included in this Map Pack (yours free with any purchase) gives you the best of both worlds.

This two-sided, 24" x 36" map provides two new battlefields for HeroClix and HorrorClix battles! Battles on the Castle Ruins side take place among the remains of a once-mighty fortress. Do you brave the murky waters of the moat to clamber over and through the walls, or do you race around to control the main gates? Combat at the Stephens Bros. Carnival rages around the Ferris wheel and among the tents and carts of the midway. Choose your battlefield carefully, and let the mayhem begin!

These maps will be available only at WizKids-attended conventions during the 2007 season, so don’t miss out!

Velociraptor Side A

Did You Hear Something in the Trees?
By HorrorClix Brand Manager Mark Tuttle

Happy Halloween, part two! For your second “trick or treat” surprise, we wanted to show you one of the pieces from The Lab that we especially enjoyed sculpting, painting, and designing. Everyone loves dinosaurs, right? Then you’ll love directing a hissing raptor to run down the Cheerleader and make her a tasty meal!

That’s not to say that the rookie Velociraptor has to slay victims, however, as he stays nicely blooded for a good chunk of his dial. This allows him to make a beeline straight toward your opponent’s monsters, bypassing victims along the way. The other fun thing about this beastie is that he can potentially deal 6 damage on a good Slash roll. This means the Velociraptor could potentially take out short rookie dials very fast. For 40+ points, that’s a pretty good deal.

The Lab is slated for a late January 2007 release at hobby game stores near you. Make sure you tell your local retailer to order HorrorClix today!

October 13, 2006 -

October 13, 2006 (SEATTLE) — WizKids Inc. announced today the return of Dark Horse Comics to HeroClix® with the release of the seven-figure Dark Horse HeroClix Hellboy and the B.P.R.D Action Pack. This windowed product, which features all-new sculpts and game play, will be released in March 2007.

Hellboy is the popular demon-turned-hero created by Mike Mignola and published by Dark Horse Comics. Hellboy has been featured in a live-action movie, an upcoming animated movie and will be seen in Hellboy 2 by Universal Pictures in 2008. The B.P.R.D. (Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense) is a group of government agents whose sole duty is to protect unsuspecting citizens from the forces of darkness.

Because Hellboy and B.P.R.D. are horror-themed comics, WizKids will be branding this product as a dual HeroClix-HorrorClix release. HorrorClix™ is the new monster-themed collectable miniatures game that is loosely compatible with HeroClix. The Dark Horse HeroClix Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Action Pack will contain seven monster cards along with victim tokens for HorrorClix compatibility.

“We’re very excited to complement HeroClix and HorrorClix with this great property from Dark Horse Comics,” said Lax Chandra, president of WizKids®. “HeroClix is really a game for comic book fans, and the Hellboy property fits perfectly into the HorrorClix genre. Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. are very high on the wish lists of our players and collectors.”

“Playing Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. will be very easy, no matter which game system you’re using,” said Mark Tuttle, WizKids brand manager. “If you’re playing HeroClix, you’ll use the figure’s dial and reference the standard powers and abilities card. If you’re playing HorrorClix, you’ll use the included monster cards to know how to play each figure. This will become the standard for any dual-branded HeroClix-HorrorClix product we release.”

Exact pricing for the Dark Horse HeroClix Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. Action Pack is to be determined. For more information on Dark Horse Comics, visit

HorrorClix Cover to be Featured in Major Art Book

Ripped straight from the cover of Inquest's September 2006 issue, J.S. Rossbach's stunning "Razor Vixen" will soon be lurking in the pages of Ballistic Publishing's art book Exotique 2!

Shane Hartley, WizKids Art Director, on the selection:

“As Art Director for WizKids, I search for some of the best and most talented artists in the industry, especially for HorrorClix, where we require a very ‘hyper-realistic’ look to all the art as it is heavily based on contemporary horror films. J.S. Rossbach is an amazing talent and it is no wonder that his depiction of our own WizKids character, the Razor Vixen, ended up being chosen for such a prestigious book.“

So you think you know vampires?

Think again. HorrorClix is a game of monsters and victims, and this Wizard Entertainment exclusive falls squarely into the first category.

The most powerful vampire in the first release, Morgana brings 110 points of creepy undead goodness to the table. But don’t let her good looks fool you; she packs a much bigger punch than do her Blood Vamp counterpart kin in the HorrorClix Starter Game. With strong attack and defense values down her dial and six clicks of Slash (on a successful attack, roll a d6 for damage instead of using her printed value), she’s a ferocious combatant. And four clicks of Vampiric (heal her of 1 damage each time her attack damages a target) will have you moving up—not down—the dial more often than not. And if that wasn’t enough, she allows you to add two extra plot twist cards to your crypt at the beginning of the game, making her even more valuable.

But wait, there’s more! Morgana is part of Rasputin’s Hellbound Cabal, and his own 90 points of vampiric power is a perfect match for her ages-old evil. (The cabal power’s +1 to attack values vs. Hellspawn and Spirits doesn’t hurt, either. Well, not much. Just a small, sharp pain. Rather pleasant, really . . . . ). Rasputin also gives you +2 plot twist cards—a big advantage when combined with Morgana’s windfall.

At the end of the night, Morgana is a must-have for any fan of HorrorClix, vampires, or scantily clad dead people. Get yours today at!

HorrorClix Magazine Promotions

HorrorClix is WizKids’ newest 3-D tabletop game, and it puts you in control of your own horror story! Armies of monsters, zombies, and ghosts power up on innocent victims before waging bloody war with each other. Along with the gory goodies found in the Starter Game and in Booster Packs, WizKids is partnering with both Scrye and InQuest magazines to bring you some special promotions.

InQuest #138: “Hobby Gamer” Victim Token

Included in the October cover issue of InQuest magazine is a special victim token, appropriately named the Hobby Gamer. This victim token has a random, 1d6 speed value—giving him the opportunity to make or break his own getaway. How many hobby gamers will you slay in your next HorrorClix game?

Hobby Gamer

Scrye #101: HorrorClix Indoor/Outdoor Map

If you’ve already played on the HorrorClix demo maps and the map in the HorrorClix Starter, you’re really going to enjoy the exclusive map in the November cover issue of Scrye magazine. This map is the first indoor/outdoor map for HorrorClix, and it includes scenarios for both two and four players.

Zombies are looming in the cemetery, threatening to wipe out humanity, and the opposition prepares for battle in the mortuary house. Will you join forces with vampires and werewolves to save the dying innocents or will you command the zombie horde and devour all who get in your way?

Carnage and mayhem come to the tabletop as "click" gameplay brings out the werewolf and vampire in each of us

Vampires vs. werewolves. Freddy vs. Jason. Alien vs. Predator. These are the monster battles that horror geeks have obsessed over for years, and the sort of fights that WizKids' HorrorClix miniatures game promises to deliver.
The gameplay is solid, playable and fun, with a mechanic that's familiar to those who've played "Clix" earlier games ...
The game utilizes a variant of the "Clix" mechanic that drives WizKids' popular HeroClix and MechWarrior games, specially tailored to recreate the tropes, clichés and scenarios found in the horror genre. As with the earlier games, HorrorClix features small figurines mounted on a rotating disk that contains game stats such as strength, speed, defense and damage, as well as supernatural abilities.

As the tiny, prepainted werewolves, lunatics, skeletons and vampires take damage during their gruesome battles, players "click" their bases. This reveals new stats and abilities, such as a normally "unstoppable" skeleton (an ability that reduces damage taken) suddenly gaining a rampage attack (which allows it to make a second attack after slaying another monster).

While the mechanic may seem familiar, the game hasn't just traded in superhero tights for a splattering of blood and gore. A new "hourglass" mechanic on some figures' dials forces players click it forward at the end of each game round. This serves multiple purposes—it allows ghosts to transform from incorporeal, untouchable menaces into all-too-real threats and forces creatures like zombies to "fall dead" for a round, only to rise again with even more inhuman powers.

Victims—including jocks, pizza guys, prom queens and cops—are caught between the game's warring monster factions. Most serve as food, but benevolent priests or antiheroic vampire slayers may rescue a few. Half the monsters can undergo transformations either by killing monsters or slaying victims. This allows figures such as the werewolf to start the game as human and then become bloodcurling horrors.

Turnabouts and reversals are dealt via "plot twist" cards. Some, like "terror sprint" and "hair spray blowtorch," provide temporary advantages to victims, allowing them to forestall their doom (and are usually played by a player to prevent an opponent from snagging his or her would-be lunch). Others, such as "nobody gets out alive," give bonuses to a player if all victims have been slain by the end of the game.

The game is sold in two forms: a starter with six fixed figures, the rules and a battle map, and boosters that contain four random figures.

Horror with a touch of cyclopean madness
A few years ago, WizKids released a kid-friendly "clix" game called Creepy Freaks, in which various monsters attempted to gross each other out. It was amusing, in a 10-year-old kid sort of way, but it was mostly benign. HorrorClix is anything but.

From the first page of the instructions, players are told that the monstrous packs they control will be slaughtering victims and devouring their minds and/or bodies to fuel rampages. With this backdrop, it goes on to successfully evoke the mood and pacing of the horror genre, with plot twists that keep players scrambling to update their strategies and exceedingly detailed miniatures that grow more disturbing the closer players look at them. The "lynch ghost" features a transparent body with a black hood and a noose trailing away from its head. The business-suited, chainsaw-wielding madman is splattered with blood, and the bloody skeletal maiden screams in tortured agony.

The gameplay is solid, playable and fun, with a mechanic that's familiar to those who've played "Clix" earlier games, but different enough to make things fresh. At the same time, the game is easier to pick up than the earlier incarnations of the Clix rules, thanks in part to the inclusion of cards for each monster that incorporate the rules for its specific abilities.

The game is not without its disappointments, the largest of which is its lack of any signature monsters from the mainstream horror continuum. While Alien- and Predator-based expansions have been announced, the first set features only generic versions of modern monsters. Players won't find Blade, Jason, Freddy, Michael Meyers or anyone from Stephen King's horde of horrors in the game. There are a few named unique figures, such as Jack the Ripper and the Headless Horseman, but those inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos are the closest the game comes to horrors from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Monsters in HorrorClix tend to be weaker than in earlier Clix games, in part because of the transformation powers of many monsters require them to have shorter dials. That in turn allows them to take fewer hits, a fact that makes some creatures appear to have glass jaws until players figure out the appropriate tactics.

While a few heroes exist, the game is not about fighting against monsters, it's about fighting with monsters. Because of that, WizKids has rated the game "VG-13" for violence and gore and strongly cautions parents that the game may not be appropriate for those under age 13.

After playing the game through several times, game's victim-fueled slaughters made it feel much more like an R-rated movie than a PG-13 one. Parents would do well to check out the company's Web site and try out the online demo before picking up a few boosters for Halloween. —Ken

Dear Hobby Retailers, Distributors, and WizKids Envoys,

I have good news, bad news, and good news.

First off, I would like to personally thank you for all the enthusiasm and support that you have provided for HorrorClix over the last several months. Your efforts to promote the game have been tireless, and your commitment to help the game succeed is unprecedented at a time when many games struggle to launch.

The good news is that HorrorClix is experiencing a wonderful release and we appreciate and recognize all of your help in creating this success.

The bad news is that despite our efforts to create what we thought were sufficient quantities of inventory to stock the product for three to six months after the release date, our inventory is currently out in the U.S. After the promotional window for the Cthulhu figure was closed, we continued to receive re-orders from all of our distribution partners as more and more fans became excited about our new line of Clix-based minis.

Now that the product has launched to consumers around the world, we are receiving re-orders even earlier than we had expected. The good news is that anticipating this upswing in interest and activity, we have a reprint already in the works and on the way. The reprint is expected to arrive at our warehouse at the end of September when it will immediately be able to begin shipping though distribution channels. So although in the short term we may have a lack of product to satisfy everyone’s needs, we will be able to catch up fairly quickly.

Again, I would like to personally thank you for all your help in making the HorrorClix launch a huge success for WizKids, and thank you in advance for bearing with us as we manage the overwhelming demand for this product.

WizKids announces HorrorClix Envoy Program Kickoff!

Recently, the first envoys for the HorrorClix Envoy program were approved and made into Zombie Masters. While the in-store play designed for this product does not require an envoy to schedule events or report game results, from time to time WizKids will ask these individuals for a little help protecting the world from ghosts, goblins, and things that go Clix in the night.

This Summer, WizKids distributed thousands of demonstration kits for this great game in advance of its debut at the GenCon Game Faire (Aug 10-13, 2006, held in Indianapolis, IN), including these new Zombie Masters.

It’s time to protect the world.

These envoys should now be able to schedule Demonstration events in their stores, and help to show off the great sculpts, exciting game play, and Wicked Fun that typifies HorrorClix to interested players. The WizKids event registration system can now accommodate these requests, and Demonstrations (and other venue supported events) events can be scheduled at any time up to one week before the event takes place.

Why must this happen, you might ask?

Because Cthulhu is coming. For you.

From Aug 1 to Aug 10, one Demonstration event per day will be randomly selected from reported events, and the assigned Zombie Master will receive a Great Cthulhu figure from WizKids, absolutely free of charge! To be considered, all events must be reported by August 17, 2006. Recipients will be notified by e-mail on or about August 18, and this amazing centerpiece figure will be on its way to the lucky recipients soon thereafter.

So rise from your Crypts! If you are not already a Zombie Master, apply now at soon to take part in this great promotion.

May 17, 2006 (SEATTLE) — WizKids Inc. is pleased to announce the first licensed property to join the HorrorClix™ collectable miniatures game (CMG). In conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, two Alien vs. Predator Collector’s Sets are to be released. The first set features the acid-blooded Aliens, and the second set features the brutal space-faring hunters, the Predators.

“The Alien vs. Predator license adds two of the most fearsome creatures in science fiction to the HorrorClix game line,” said Jordan Weisman, WizKids® CEO. “When we asked in a recent online poll who the fans wanted to see most, Alien vs. Predator won the vote hands down. Demo Kit Details

August seems like a long way away, but it’s just a short time when you’re trying to bring something as complex and wonderful as HorrorClix to bloodthirsty hobby gamers everywhere!

In fact, the very first HorrorClix demo kits will be previewed at Gen Con Paris. This will be the very first opportunity for players worldwide to get their claws on the most exciting new miniatures game in several years. Don’t have the pocket change to make it to Europe? Fear not, we’ll break down these demo kits and all of the coolness found therein.

The HorrorClix Demo Kit (or “Cthulhu Snack Pack” as we call it internally; more on that later) contains the following monster-goodness:

  • 6 awesome monster sculpts with monster cards
  • 6 victim tokens
  • 12 plot twist cards
  • Full-sized, full-color map of the Blight Family Mausoleum
  • Full-color rules poster
  • Demo script
  • 2 full-sized dice
  • Clix ring

We’ve shown you the monster sculpts before, but let’s talk about the new game play additions you’ll find in HorrorClix.

Monster Cards — HorrorClix monster cards show you which powers the specific dial colors represent, as well as keywords and important symbols—they even provide story backgrounds on most of the game’s characters.

Victim Tokens — These are the innocent (and some not-so) human victims that you chase down at the beginning of the game. Slaying (or in some cases rescuing) victims can give your monsters additional powers and bonuses.

Plot Twist Cards — Another new element of HorrorClix is the plot twist card. These are played from your crypt to prevent your opponent from making tasty snacks out of victims, or to move victims closer to your monsters.

The monsters in the six-figure demo kit were chosen because they all highlight different elements of the innovative new rules in HorrorClix. Note that these pieces do not necessarily reflect their final stats or abilities.

Dog Soldier
Dog Soldier
All monster cards start on their green “Start” sides. Using the “transform” mechanic, when the Dog Soldier slays his first victim, his monster card is flipped to the “Transform” side and the dial is turned to the red starting line. The Dog Soldier now gains two new abilities: Flesheater and Tough Pelt! The Dog Solider will never change back and can take 5 clicks of damage before he is killed.
The deadly and beautiful Razorvixen starts on the green “Start” side of her monster card, but her dial begins on the red starting line. The “Bloodsucker” ability allows her to heal damage past that red starting line each time she damages an opposing monster. Stamina and Savagery make her very hard to kill. Razorvixen
Brine Witch
Brine Witch
A familiar of Cthulhu, the Brine Witch has two different green starting lines on her dial. Depending on which version of the character you want to play, turn her dial to that position and flip the monster card to the corresponding side. Once you choose one of two starting sides to begin the game, you cannot flip the monster card during that game or move the dial to the other starting line.
Sporting the new “hourglass” mechanic, the Zombie Cop is tough to kill, as it has both the Brains!! and Doesn’t Bleed powers. Whenever you see an hourglass in any stat window, that stat cannot be used that turn. At the end of your turn, deal 1 unpreventable damage to every one of your monsters showing an hourglass. This simulates, for example, zombies taking hits, falling in battle, and then rising up for one last attack! Zombie Cop

Using the hourglass mechanic, the Skeletal Maiden begins play incorporeal. She can neither attack nor be attacked—only drift as a disembodied spirit. As soon as she slays a victim, however, Skin Suit allows her to possess a mortal form and transform to a powerful, corporeal being.
It’s hard to keep a bad clown down. The Jester is a twisted maniac who uses severed heads as weapons, laughing all the while. He hits the floor dead on his fourth click. Or does he? Jester

You will also notice other elements on the monster cards. “Points” gives you the value for each monster for army-building purposes. “+X Twists” means that this monster allows you to have X additional plot twist cards (adding to the starting amount of six) in your crypt at the beginning of the game. Lastly, the collector’s number will be shown at the bottom right of each monster card, and the colored experience ring of each monster will appear behind the portrait in the upper left. Demo Kit figures all have purple experience rings.

Along with the monsters, you’ll find six victim tokens that provide food for your monsters. Some monsters in the game actually rescue victims, but for the purposes of the demo kit, these hapless humans make tasty and bonus-adding snacks.

Demo Victims

Plot twist cards allow you to affect the slaying of victims. Hairspray Blowtorch is a fine example of the fun offered by the 12 plot twist cards in the six-figure demo kit.

Special two-figure versions of this demo kit will be sent to registered WizKids venues in early June. If your retailer has not yet become a venue, now would be the time to get them to sign up! Also, a limited number of Great Cthulhu “big figures” will be sold at the Origins International Game Expo, and each one will include this six-figure demo kit for free (hence the name “Cthulhu Snack Pack”)! A Summer Demo Tour is currently being planned that will give you access to two-figure HorrorClix Demo Kits as well.

There’s certainly a lot more to HorrorClix than we could fit into this brief introduction to the six-figure demo kit, and we’ll soon delve more deeply into the rules, strategies, and thrilling game play coming in late August 2006, when HorrorClix arrives at your local retailer.

Behold, Great Cthulhu!

The Great Cthulhu

When any modern horror author, filmmaker, or video-game designer is asked to name inspirations, a variety of answers is offered, from Mary Shelley to Ed Wood to Stephen King. Perhaps more than the artists in any other genre, the current artists of the horror genre acknowledge the contributions of those who came before them. But arguably, there is one horror creator who stands out above all others, one who nearly any horror writer or filmmaker will cite as inspiration: Howard Phillips Lovecraft. Also known as H. P. Lovecraft, Lovecraft’s tales—penned in the traumatic modernist era after World War I—envisioned the terrible effects of modern science when mixed with human brutality, and they are among the most beloved in the genre. He wrote of terrible creatures and alternate dimensions whose power and strangeness were such that humans were nothing more than insignificant specks in comparison. He postulated that the scientific method that produced real horrors like mustard gas and the machine gun would eventually discover truths about the universe so terrible that they would destroy the minds of those who uncovered them. And most importantly, he introduced the world to Cthulhu, an Ancient One whose name has become synonymous with Lovecraft’s invented mythos of evil deities and twisted terrors.

WizKids, Inc. is proud to present, in our own homage to H. P. Lovecraft and his legion of fans, Great Cthulhu for the HorrorClix™ game. Standing almost 16-inches tall at the wings, Great Cthulhu towers over all other figures, inspiring a mixture of awe and terror that is most appropriate in the presence of an Ancient One. Crafted by sculptor Brian Dugas, Great Cthulhu is one of the most intricately detailed Clix pieces ever created.

The Great Cthulhu

From its open sores to its extra tentacles, the care and artistry that has gone into the creation of this figure is evident everywhere. Working from Lovecraft’s description of Cthulhu in the short story “The Call of Cthulhu,” Dugas mixed elements from many different sources to create the sculpture. Most notable was his use of real pieces of sea creatures (including shrimp and crab!) for various parts of Cthulhu The overall look of the sculpture is, therefore, very organic—you can almost smell the brine!

The Great Cthulhu

The tenacious Dugas lifted his brush and turned to his paint to add the details that bring Cthulhu to life. The creature’s skin is pallid, befitting something that has spent the last few thousand years in the darkness beneath the ocean. Brian’s use of shadows and tones bring Cthulhu’s trademark tentacles to life, and he added the sickly ichor and blood dribbling from a couple of superficial wounds that the Ancient One might have suffered in its slumber.

The Great Cthulhu

The Great Cthulhu is not only a great piece for HorrorClix collectors but for any aficionado of the genre. It’ll be offered in limited numbers at the WizKids® retail booths at the Origins, Gen Con, and Dragon*Con gaming conventions—but retailers who stock the HorrorClix game can receive one absolutely free! Any retailer who orders 12 HorrorClix Starter Sets and two cases of HorrorClix Boosters will receive a Great Cthulhu for his or her store as a gift from WizKids—absolutely free! No need to visit a sunken city or to use any strange summoning spells or ancient rhymes from the Necronomicon—Great Cthulhu can be yours just for introducing customers to a game that will undoubtedly become the hit miniatures game of 2006.

This summer, prepare yourself for the most ancient and evil collectible ever produced: the HorrorClix Great Cthulhu!

A Wickedly Fun New Game From WizKids

February 3, 2006 (SEATTLE) — WizKids Inc., who revolutionized miniatures gaming with the Mage Knight®, MechWarrior® and HeroClix® collectable miniatures games (CMGs), announced today the next revolution in miniatures gaming: HorrorClix™!

Zombie Cop

HorrorClix places players firmly in the action, suspense and excitement of a horror movie,” said Jordan Weisman, WizKids® CEO. “Players assemble teams of monsters from across the horror spectrum — including vampires, zombies and werewolves — and then protect the innocent, eat them or both in a delightful, gore-filled romp!” HorrorClix uses plot twist cards, a heavy emphasis on scenario play and new character cards to explode the boundaries of CMGs and the patented Clix system.

HorrorClix raises the bar for all miniatures games by shifting the game focus from hack-and-slash combat to inventive scenario- and story-based play. Additionally, it uses the combat dial to provide literally hundreds of tailor-made supernatural (and super-gruesome!) powers and abilities. Character cards flesh out each monster with fiction and detailed explanations of each creature’s capabilities, including mechanics never before seen in miniatures games!

HorrorClix will be the star of the show at the two biggest 2006 summer United States gaming conventions: Origins in Columbus, Ohio, and Gen Con in Indianapolis, Ind. Players from all over the world can experience the wicked fun of HorrorClix in ongoing demonstrations and special events. WizKids also plans to unveil a “big” HorrorClix surprise at the GAMA trade show in March.

HorrorClix will release in late summer or early fall of 2006, and will be available at gaming stores, comic stores and specialty stores worldwide.

Founded by 25-year game-industry veteran Jordan Weisman, WizKids is a Seattle-based game developer and publisher dedicated to creating tabletop games driven by imagination. Its MechWarrior and HeroClix CMGs and Pirates and Rocketmen™ CSGs are among the most successful games on the market today, and the company has sold hundreds of millions of game pieces worldwide.
