Playablility: 8.5/10 -Bishop Luzifer is a very cool piece for Guardians. What our favorite Samuel L. Jackson look-a-like lacks in staying power, he more than makes up for by packing a considerable amount of punch for his size…a measly 85 points for a Unique.
On Starting Side A, the good priest gets some pretty average stats alongside some truly great abilities. Stamina grants him immunity from the Paranoia Plot Twist and helps prevent enemies from abusing his shallow dial, while the Protector ability gives him some usefulness in the fray. Likewise, the Boss ability allows us to increase the effectiveness of other monsters, and is extremely useful alongside any Guardian Minion tokens you may be using. But the most powerful weapon in Luzifer's arsenal is his Righteous ability, letting him take advantage of the relatively few ways to prevent a rescue attempt, and makes him one of the few Guardians (at this time of writing) to have a truly effective ability during a Frenzy attack.
On side Starting Side B, the opposite is true - we see some fairly useful abilities alongside some sky-high stats. A Damage Value of 4 accompanied by an Attack Value of 11 make him dangerous, especially when his Hunter ability against Spirits can be brought to use. Though normally mediocre, the Intimidate ability can really shine for Guardians, as their strategy is so heavily influenced by Ranged Combat. Finally, we get the Area Damage ability, allowing him to deal more than 5 damage on a given turn, if he successfully attacks. (Ironically, this Starting Side makes him the first monster without the Guardian trait to rescue victims!)
Of course, as a Cabal Leader for The Order, he can grant himself and his fellow cabal-mates an ability…but our guy's Exorcism ability is useless unless your playing against an army with Spirits - and even then, it's still fairly mediocre.
If your Guardian army is in desperate need of a Close Combat piece, Bishop Luzifer is your man. He may die quickly…but he's a regular can of whup-ass as long as he's on the field.
Sculpt: 9.5/10 - The sculpt to this piece is almost breathtaking. Standing tall over a 'client', he exorcises the poor woman while holding the demonic spirit (made out of that awesome, clear plastic)in his mighty fist. While the faces on most HorrorClix figures tend to be pretty lame (this figure being no exception), there are some pretty cool things about these ones…the Priest's eyes glare with hate and badass-ness, while the woman's are rolled back in her head during the climax of the exorcism.
The only major complaint I have with this figure is how easily it breaks - if you try to carry this around in your pocket, the sculpt can easily break off of the base. But besides having to take a little care with it…the sculpt is incredible.
