Eddie's ears pricked warily at the snuffling sound of the farm dog.  In only a few moments he knew the snuffling would become a protective growl and then alerting barking.  It had been a bad idea to leap from the field and grab the girl, but she was too close to getting to the house.  And he was terribly hungry.  The Ringmaster would be exceptionally cross with him if there was a repeat of what happened at the last show...
