MinionClix
by Kavik1969

This is a two-player variant involving the use of minions as the primary figures. Minions and monsters are treated differently from HorrorClix, though the basic Clix system of resolving actions still applies. Scoring is based on victory points obtained through killing monsters (monster value), defeating minions (20 pts each) and rescuing or slaying victims (10 pts each), as well as any subplots and scenario specific goals. The winner is the player with the most points; in the case of a tie, the player with the most claimed victims wins.

Rule #1: Minions are not monsters. In MinionClix, monsters are always the enemy. Minions can become blooded and perform frenzies as free actions. Frenzies may be ranged or close combat attacks, though the damage is always 1+modifiers. Monsters cannot frenzy, though they may still collect victims for other power effects.

Rule #2: Victims are not innocent. Each game of MinionClix uses 20 minions (10 for each player), 20 victims, and 6 monsters (3 from each player) totaling 200 pts. 6 specific victims (3 from each player) are then identified as markers for the monsters, and are replaced by the monsters on the map when activated.

Rule #3 Bystanders are not victims. Players may substitute HeroClix bystander tokens for Minions, provided both players use the same number of each. These Bystanders move and attack the same as HorrorClix Minions (must be blooded to frenzy, etc.).

Rule #4 Victims can be minions. When a minion tries to rescue or slay a victim, an attack role must be made against a defense of 9. If the attack fails, the victim remains in play. If the attack fails by 3 or more, the minion is defeated and removed from the map. If the attack succeeds by 3 or more, the player may choose to replace the victim with an out of play minion. No player may control more than 10 minions at a time.

Rule #5 Monsters may be victims. When a monster marker victim is activated, that monster is brought into play and may be controlled during the suspense phase instead of a victim. Monsters may move or attack, but not both. Additionally, Plot Twists affecting monsters can only be used on minions, while plot twists affecting victims can be used on victims or monsters (plot twists may be played during any player’s turn, though only one may be played per player per action).

Rule #6 Monsters are not invincible. A lot of monsters have Stamina or Invulnerable, rendering them immune to the 1 Damage attacks often performed by minions. To counter this, MinionClix uses the Lynch Mob Rule. Lynch Mob Rule states that in an attack against a monster (not a victim or minion), all adjacent minions of the same type may add their (unmodified) damage values together for a single hit. One minion is designated as the attacker, and only that minion’s Attack value is used to determine success. For the purpose of Lynch Mob Rule, all active Bystanders are considered to be Bystander Type minions.

Rule #7 Minions are mobile. Each player can perform 4 actions during his or her turn. Each minion gains 1 action token per action, and must wait a full turn to clear these action tokens once they total two. However, a player may assign two actions to a single minion in a single turn. For example, a minion may move to a victim, monster, or opposing minion for its first action, and if it has only one action token at the conclusion of that move, it can still attack for full damage for its next action. Even if a minion is used twice in a single turn, it may still only frenzy once in that turn.

Rule #8 MinionClix are HorrorClix. For all rules not specifically covered, follow the Basic HorrorClix rules and approved errata.
