HorrorClix Gets Physical

HorrorClix Physical Challenge
A HorrorClix Variant by Keltvia

This is a take on several games rolled into one and will provide fun and mayhem for hours on end.

What you need:

A game of Monopoly
A game of Scattergories
2 decks of playing cards
A chalk board/white board
A dart board
3 darts
2 6 sided dice
Your favorite Horrorclix monster.

Objective:
The objective of the game is to collect as many of the playing cards as possible while trying to keep your opponents from getting them at the same time.

Setup:
Start by placing the monopoly game board out in the middle of the playing field. Remove the money, chance/community chest cards, and tokens from where you will be playing, but keep the property cards handy. Take both decks of cards and remove all the face cards and jokers. But keep these decks separated. Hang the dartboard on the wall at eye level and place a line approximately 8 feet away from the dartboard on the floor. Set the chalk board in a place where everyone can get to it. Take the dice, timer, and the pens and paper from the Scattergories game and give each player a pencil and paper.

Next decide witch of the two decks will be the “magic” deck. Shuffle this deck and take 12 cards at random from it and set them in a special area where no one can see them. Don’t look at the cards you take out! This is very important. Don’t look at the cards you take out! This is very important, so important I typed it twice. Take the remaining cards from this deck, (lets call it deck A) and place them outside of the game with the monopoly money and what not. Shuffle the remaining deck, (deck B) and place it face down in the center of the monopoly board. Spread this deck out in the standard Go Fish style.

Each player chooses his or her favorite monster to play with and places it on the start space of the board. You can play with any monster, points don’t matter. Players then take turns rolling the dice to see who goes first. Re-roll any ties. Choose one player to keep track of the monopoly properties and cal him the “bank”.

How to Play:

Start your turn by rolling the dice and then moving that many spaces. When you land on a property that is un-owned you will receive it from the “Bank” automatically. If you land on a space that someone else already has, you may declare a Physical Challenge against that player. We’ll get into that later but for now just remember that you can. Any time that you take a property you draw a card from the center pile of playing cards and keep it.

At the end of your turn if you landed next to an opponent’s monster, or on the same space as that monster, you may declare a Combat Challenge, and attempt to attack that monster.
If you land on a community chess or chance space you may declare a physical challenge on any player for any property.
If you land on free parking you receive 3 cards from the center pile.
If you land on go to jail you go to jail and must skip your next turn.
If you land on Go or Just Visiting, good for you - nothing happens.
If you land on income or luxury tax you must put 2 of your cards back in the middle!

A Physical Challenge!

When you land on an opponents property, or on a chance/ community chess space then you may declare a physical challenge. A physical challenge is a short mini game to decide the fate of the property in question.

Dart Challenge:
In this Physical challenge each player takes turns throwing 9 darts (3 at a time) at the dart board. After each set of 3 darts is thrown write down the added score of those darts for each player. After all 3 sets of 3 darts are thrown by each player, add up their totals. The person with the highest point total wins the physical challenge and the gains control of the property that is being disputed. Remember that every time you gain a property you get to draw a card from the middle.

Scattergories Challenge:
In this Physical challenge both players get their pens and paper ready. The attacking player then rolls the large letter dice and hits the timer. Each player has 3 minutes to write down as many horror movies that start with that letter that they can think of. When the timer goes off its pencils down! The player that wrote down the most movies wins, and gets ownership of the property. These have to be real movies now: no cheating. Remember that every time you gain control of a property you draw a card from the pile

Hangman Challenge:
In the hangman physical challenge the player that is defending his property goes up to the chalk board and draws a hangman’s noose. The player then thinks of a word and writes it down where the other player can’t see it. He then makes spaces on the board for each letter in the word. With each letter that the attacker gets wrong the defending player draws a part of a stickman in the noose starting with the Head then body, right arm, left arm, right leg then left leg. If the player that’s guessing fails to get the word before his hangman dies then the attack is un-successful.

If a physical challenge doesn’t succeed don’t worry. The player just stays where he is and the game play moves on.

A Combat Challenge!

When a player lands on a space either occupied by or adjacent to another player’s piece, at the end of your turn you can declare a Combat Challenge. A Combat Challenge works much the same way as in a normal game of HorrorClix. The player rolls the dice and tries to hit the other player’s monster. If damage is done you click the monster like normal. If the player kills their opponent’s monster they get to draw 3 cards from the pile. If your monster dies nothing too bad happens. You simply return your properties to the bank and place you monster on the start space back on their green line.

Special Objective:

Whenever you control a monopoly of any of the properties you get to draw an additional card each time you take another property. This ability does not stack so you can only get one extra card no matter how many monopolies you have.

When does it all end!?!?:

The game ends when there are no more cards left to get from the center. Once this happens you take the 12 cards that you removed from deck A (remember those?) and place them in the center of the board. Again don’t look at these cards! Players then take turns revealing the top card from the 12 card pile and placing them aside. The very last card on the bottom of the pile is the “magic” card, and the player that has that card from the game is the Winner!

On a side note:
The Physical challenges that I suggested don’t have to be used. You can think up any of your own challenges and play with those as long as all the players agree with them. Try this game out I guarantee you’ll have fun!

Oh and also, I wouldn't reccomend that you make any of the Physical Chalanges about taking drinks or taking shots of anything. It just doesn't end well.
