HorrorClix Freakshow Prize Support LE Figures

HorrorClix Freakshow Prize Support LE Figures
by Aahz

HorrorClix: Freakshow has brought us many new monsters, powers, Plot Twists and victims, but the most oft asked question for any new Clix expansion has to be... "What about the LE Prize figures?" Well, once again, WizKids has come through with flying colors (literally in one case). We're proud to present the four Prize Support figures from HorrorClix: Freakshow-

HorrorClix Freakshow LE Prizes

First up is Bull (FS-200), who even manages to create a sense of unease in the normally unflappable Ringmaster.

Bull (FS-200)

Bull's the prize version of Elephant Man (FS-085), but the similarities pretty much end with the sculpt. At 130 points he's not cheap, but if you've got the points to spend, he's worth every single one. First he gives you a spare Plot Twist in your crypt, then he follows that up with a full 10 clicks of life, every one containing either two or three of his five available powers.

He starts off with Blood Scent, Stamina and Cold Killer (Assassin) combined with a base movement value of size and base damage value of 3 meaning he's ready to brawl right out of the starting gate. Once your opponent manages to deal six clicks of damage (no easy feat with his stamina and 16/15 defense) the beast truly awakens and Bull uses his Elephantine Bulk (Trap) to keep his enemies close, while he starts to Slash that battle axe for a full d6 of damage. While his attack value drops from 10 on the early clicks to a low of seven on his second to last click, Bull is sure to bring the pain and can handily tie up a couple of smaller monsters or keep your opponents main brawler busy while the rest of your team takes care of the riff raff.

Miss Slyther (FS-201)

Speaking of bringing the pain while keeping your opponent busy, Miss Slyther (FS-201) seems designed to do exactly that. At 120 points, she'll also add an Plot Twist to your crypt, but you may not even need it with this wicked seductress on your side. Her starting movement value of nine allows her to move into battle with the fastest of the fast where she'll immediately use her Coils (Trap) to tie down the monster of your choice while playing her ocarina to Entice the nearby victims to flee for their lives (and into the arms (and mouths) of her teammates). Just to add insult to injury, her starting attack value of 10 allows her to strike most monsters rather handily, though she's unlikely to deal the two points of damage she printed on her dial, as it's so much more fun to use Charmed (Possession) to take control of your opponent while dealing them damage at the same time. Should your starving opponent manage to wriggle around enough to take a swing at her, they'll need to get through a defense value of 16 to have any impact. And that's when the fun really begins as she alternates between Charmed (Possession) and Fangs (Pain) through all eight clicks, meaning whatever points your opponent spent on damage reduction now seem to be wasted.

Tunnel Terror (FS-202)

With only seven clicks of life, and not even providing a spare Plot Twist, Tunnel Terror (FS-202), may seem overcosted at 130 points. But I think you'll agree that's not not the case once you've played him for a few turns. Tunnel Terror is one of the few Freakshow figures to possess the ever popular Leap/Climb power and he retains it throughout his entire dial unless, that is, you choose to flip his card and activate Fresh meat (Blood Scent) instead to speed him up even more. Yes, The mechanic that was met with rave reviews in the Aliens set is back and with a vengeance. Side A not only has Leap/Climb for maneuverability, but Tunnel Vision (Second Sight) to help decide which victims you should be chasing down, and Skulk (Invisible) to keep your opponents snipers from so much as targeting him. Once you're in position, a quick flip provides you with Feeding Frenzy (Righteous) to bump up your dial-long damage value of two, and Hearteater (Feast) to extend the dial even further.

Did I forget to mention that Tunnel terror keeps all three powers through every single click? Or that his attack value starts at a decent nine but works it way up to 11? Or that his defense value starts out at 18, hovers at 17 for a couple of clicks, then 16 for a few more, only dropping to a low of 15 on his very last click? I did? That must be why you were still fretting over his point cost. Tunnel Terror may be Hellbound, but he's not making the trip without bringing along some of your opponent's monsters.

Billy Stank (FS-203)

Quick poll: raise your hand if you didn't start looking for the Yankee Zombie as soon as you first saw Johnny Dead (FS-091) in a booster? No one? That's what I thought. Well, you'll need to play at your local venue to find him, because that's where Billy Stank (FS-203) will be waiting for you. At only 100 points, Billy costs the same as his rebellious cousin, but packs plenty of heat, starting with an extra Plot Twist for your crypt (Zombie Mob anyone?), and following up with an 11 click dial (though two of those have hourglasses). Billy starts off slow, both figuratively and literally, matching Johnny's move of three, and showing only Yankee Ingenuity (Stamina) on his dial. He quickly adds Yankee Pot Roast Brains (Feast) to his repertoire though, giving you the opportunity to keep him within those first three clicks for quite some time. Should your opponent power through Billy's 16 defense, he takes a short break from moving or attacking on click four, only to return to battle with new tricks up his sleeve. Carpetbagger (Invisible) will keep those pesky musket balls away while Flagpole Thrust (Snap Shot) will allow him to both crawl towards the enemy line and take a few pot shots at those he passes near. Feast reappears shortly on click six, followed by another rest period heading towards Billy's final click. I'm not a fan of Zombies (heresy, I know), but this flag wielding Unionist just may get me to change my mind.

The only way to get any of these Limited Edition prize figures is through WizKids Supported Approved Play events at your Friendly local Game Store, so be sure to drop in and encourage them to get signed up at http://www.wizkidsgames.com if they haven't already (and thank them if they have).
