![]() Ideas from the Extras Bin BACKGROUND I seem to have more Me-Time now that I am deployed in Kuwait - far from family, friends and everything I hold dear. As happens in these situations, I wanted to have comforting things around me in this new land. . . THE IDEA - Heroes verses Aliens.
I wanted to use some models from the Extras Bin. Using only the extras limited my options nicely – forcing me to use a lot of Rookie models, meaning that not every Hero was a Veteran.
(KUDOS to Fallout Boy’s House of HorrorClix for the idea of the DEO Agent and Gotham Undercover as DANA and FOX!!!)
STYLE NOTE – I played this game Sadie Style. Translation - Toreador style with a Malkavian edge - playing both sides as aggressively as possible. (Though I secretly desired the Heroes to win, I also wanted to be treated to a hefty serving of massacre delivered by the Alien chefs.)
(Hi. My name is Tyler. I am a recovering Larper. It has been 6 and a half years since my last LARP.)
THE SETUP THE MAP – Predator Temple with moving walls THE HEROES (500 points) THE RESULTS The Pyramid map is brutal. It was an Alien massacre, with only HUNTRESS surviving. I don't think any heroes actually succeeded with a Ranged Attack. Three Aliens susvived – GRID, LONG-TAIL and STALKER. DEADPOOL (The Widow (HrC-201))- Ate exactly one nerd before fighting off 3-4 Aliens by himself for a good part of the game. (He finally succumbed to a joint attack, soaked in acid-blood.) NOTE - Widow is a powerful figure. MAGDALENA (Faith Priest R (HrC-061) on Vigilante Side) - No saves, no kills just a decent defense against a horde of aliens while trapped 2 squares from her companions. Her crisis of faith may have lead to a Crossroad in her life. HUNTRESS (Vampire Hunter R (HrC-067)) - The solo remaining Hero managed to save a Prom Queen and a Survivor, fending off several Aliens with Logan and Punisher. She probably awoke on a cold stone floor, swearing vengeance. LOGAN (Vampire Hunter E (HrC-068)) - No rescues, hindered by terrain, he came late to battle but quickly finished off the RUNNER, before being STALKED and eaten. DANA (Ghostfinder R (HrC-055)) - Her looks could not save her, but she did save the Pizza Guy before succumbing to LONG-TAIL. (That rescue will continue to haunt her.) FOX (Zombie Cop E (HrC-011)) - 30 points of Pure Undead Hero. He fended off WALLY and GRID at the same time, finally taking a bite of WALLY to wash down the Sheriff stuck in his throat. GRID finally took him out, but FOX kept GRID off the backs of the other heroes. Added at the last second to bring the Heroes to 500 points, FOX received 100 points total for killing WALLY and eating the Sheriff (when nobody was looking). He also became the star of the story, eclipsing poor DEADPOOL. PUNISHER (Field Agent V (HrC-084)) - Saved a cop and crushed the LEAPER. This figure was more powerful than I had thought, taking chunks out of several Aliens. Exposing his vulnerable side to HUNTRES, he was crushed (literally by a wall). It must have been Love, but it’s over now. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! BLADE (Vampire Hunter V (HrC-069)) - After taking Paranoia damage from the dastardly PIZZA BOY, BLADE left him behind. BLADE proceeded to Leap and Climb over Aliens to rescue more victims. He fell under the combined onslaught of three Aliens after saving the last perky Prom Queen. Homecoming is Saved!! Grid Alien (AvP-001) - Survivor - After killing the exterminator who rudely sprayed him with Bug Spray, he dined on a sweet Prom Queen. He beat the stuffing out of FOX after watching him eat WALLY. (Unfortunately, GRID was trapped behind unyielding walls for nearly half the game.) Acid-Tail Alien R (AvP-002) - Performed admirably as fire support and ate a prickly Prom Queen to deny the guardian points. He was then squashed by a wall, as he snuck up behind HUNTRESS. Leaping Alien R (AvP-003) - Also did well supporting his fellows, eating one Prom Queen for the team before being PUNISHED. Long-Tail Alien E (AvP-004) - Survivor - gathering the most points for the Alien Queen, LONG-TAIL took both DANA and MAGDALENA after helping to take down DEADPOOL. Running Alien R (AvP-005) - Alas, no points for this circling Drone. He is nearly an Extra. Wall-Leaping Alien E (AvP-006) - Best supporting dead alien, taking one (Prom Queen) for the team, before being slain by FOX. Stalking Alien V (AvP-007) - Survivor - vying for the position of ultimate Alien, he took down DEADPOOL, BLADE and LOGAN, in that order, with assists from RUNNER, WALLY and ACID-TAIL. The pyramid map is brutal. Several turns would pass characters by as the walls closed around them. As the game progressed, Heroes and Aliens became more daring, placing themselves within Wall spaces – This resulted in two kills for the Walls. The Heroes only killed three Aliens between them. Go Walls!! Only HUNTRESS survived - PUNISHER recently undergoing an experimental weight loss plan that involved diving under moving walls. GRID ALIEN, STALKER and LONG-TAIL surrounded her as she fell to her Hourglass click. The aliens performed well as a team, setting up Line of Sights on targets and letting loose with frenzied passion upon the interlopers. The heroes seemed surprised by the ferocious attacks of the aliens, never quite assembling a fire team or good close combat grouping. They were picked off one by one. Vampire Hunters seem to be too expensive against non-vampires. I will have to try them against a vampire hoard. There were several cards that I didn’t use from both sides, as victims were consumed far too quickly. Bug Spray and Paranoia are both good thematic cards. I probably should have kept better track of actions each turn to make the telling of the tale more cinematic, but that might have slowed the game. THE FUTURE? Can HUNTRESS escape, waking up in the Pyramid next to her beloved PUNISHER? Are the others dead or waiting to have chest-bursting trauma of their own? Of course, FOX survived due to luck (and zombie fortitude), searching fruitlessly for DANA. DANA is very much alive in the arms of PIZZA BOY (Rookie Razorvamp – remember the young Vampire distracted by loose change in that classis episode of EX-FILES). Can FOX rally survivors to re-enter the Pyramid to save their fallen comrades?? Does he really want to? Can he ever find his left arm? Will DEADPOOL be consumed by the Aliens, giving them nasty heartburn? Will they welcome him with open arms? Maws? Pods?? Will he be able to give up his Beastly Spider habits and become a reformed man spider?!? Will his personality be so shattered that he develops a Hyde and Jeckyll persona? Will he become a Mad Monk? Will he prance around in a slinky black dress calling for ? Does anybody actually read this far into the Future. (NOTE – DEADPOOL is the best comic character ever!! Even in a supporting role to FOX and DANA! He did perform much better than Logan. Whose the Best now, Fanboy??!) Will Tyler cut up more LE models to support his Deadpool habit?? What will FOX do when he discovers that DANA is with PIZZA BOY? Can FOX save her before DANA is (yuck) infected with vampiric and/or Alien DNA? Will their future Zombie/Ecto-Baby save the world? Will DANA join the Fashionistas? (Huh?) Who are the Fashionistas? - A legion of ex-FOX-girlfriends and ruffians so evil they could only be lead by a . . . ZOMBIE LAWYER MONKEY – (Yes, I now have a Super Zombie Ape) (And no, FOX didn’t “touch” the monkey) PIZZA BOY (Razorvixen R (HrC-004)) FAITH (Vampire Lackey turned Vampire Enforcer R (HrC-040)) POISON IVY (Sorority Zombie R (HrC-043) / future Pod Mother (Lab-090)) HARLEY QUINN (Jester R (HrC-016)) PROFESSOR X-DEAD (Shambling Zombie R (HrC-028) on wheels with a Zombie Cop head) KILLER FROST (Skeletal Maiden R (HrC-013) – who doesn’t have too many of these?!?) SKULL BUSTER (Zombie Cop V (HrC-012)) APHRODITE IX (Currently Cloaking Predator (Lab-097) – I just really like this model) + Whatever I can cobble together from the remains of the hacked horrors. Danger Girls as Candy Stipers or Corp Response? Dreadnok Hardhat Zombies or Vat Clones? (oh. Buzzer = Chainsaw E (HrC-099)) I need to get THE LAB so I can have more Ideas from the Extras Bin TYLERDRAKE, TOREADOR IN CAMOFLAGE |
