Idea #2 - MINIONS - MUCH-MALIGNED MISCREANTS or DEGENERATES REBORN

Some would seem to suggest that Minions seem to need a re-vision of some type. I have seen numerous postings about their ability to sway a game merely by their presence on the game board. Instead of rejecting their peregrine ways, we should embrace them – breathing new (un)life into a wonderful mechanism for storytelling.

Suggested House-Rule – Only one LE minion can be present on each team at any one time. If the LE Vamp Minion (Betsy uber-mini-vamp) takes a powder, it would be perfectly acceptable to replace her on the next turn with LE Werewolf Minion (Rahne “suddenly-flea-bitten-wolf-lover.”) if a minion-inducing encounter ensues.

THE IDEA

How to Transmogrify the Converted into Helpful members of Monster Society

What if Minions could be more interactive? What if they just looked more 3-D?
Pogs are great, but loyal minions deserve better representation (or a new agent.)

Going through the Extras Bin, as I am want to do, I came to a realization. I have many models just kicking around, abused and maligned themselves. An Idea was born on how to give all of those SHIELD Agents, AIM medics, SWAT troopers and (my favorite) Vampires Lackeys more credit.

(Apparently inspiration usually strikes me at midnight, but that’s a different tale.)

I took some models that had been hacked from their bases in preparation for some (then-unknown) surgical modifications. I had some Runaways in a ziplock bag begging for release. Who was I to deny them?

Officially, Minions are pogs. How can they be converted into something that represents them properly without obscuring those precious cardboard disks? I would mount them on clear bases so that they could stand upon the actual minion tokens - without obscuring them at all!!

I took the models that had been removed from their bases and simply super-glued them onto some clear plastic. I used circles cut from the clear plastic of a WK Collectors's Set, but any clear plastic will do the job.

I now had a Vamp Lackey, SWAT Specialist and Runaway mounted on clear plastic bases that could be placed on an actual minion pog AND not actually obscure the Pog itself. (Of course, this could probably be applied to victims themselves – but who wants to paint food??)

LOYAL MINION SUGGESTIONS

VAMPIRE – vampire lackeys, Buffy Mini-mates, Danger Girl repaints?

GUARDIAN – SWAT, SHIELD, GCPD, LexCorp Security, AIM. I may use the Danger Girls as LE minions.

OCCULTIST – Hellfire Club, Scourge (one of my favorite underused models – probably as the LE), AIM agents or medics.

SLASHER – extra Runaway models (Though I love the sculpt, I can think of no reason to actually use these models in Horrorclix. They are now reborn as mere minions, but reborn all the same.) Morlocks are also possible (though hopefully they will have future life as Alien Minions). NINJAS

WEREWOLF – Wolfsbane from Infinity Challenge. ( I have close to a dozen of these) Other animal protagonists could include Wendigo, Sasquatch, a hairy Logan model (LE), Tigra or even Super-Apes.

ZOMBIE – I plan to repaint and trim several models to coincide with a zombie look (Thugs, Lackeys, Criminals, etc from heroclix.) The easiest way to represent Zombie minions though, is to just use the glow-in-the dark figures from ZOMBIE. (They also add some ambiance to a darkened room.)

Only the Occultist and Guardian minions have Range so they lend themselves better to models with guns (duh). I really like the AIM models from Heroclix Clobberin’ time. They could do duty as either Scrubber Guardian minions or as evil occultist minions.

Personally, I am going to work with SWAT, Vamp Lackeys, Hellfire Club and AIM trainees to try out this Idea.

Another great reason to do this is to differentiate two opposing teams instead of trying to pick out which minions are yours. I think it would be pretty cool to watch two guardian teams colliding each with their own sets of Minions.
