Best picture - Severed Limb

There’s nothing better than a good looking zombie, except for a good looking zombie holding a severed arm. Severed limb has the best in the way of picture quality with a good looking background and a great looking monster in the fore-ground. The entrails is what sets this picture apart from most others as it is quite graphic and disturbing

Worst picture Look Left, Dodge Right

What exactly is that supposed to be? The best I can tell it appears to be a stained glass window. What does that have to do with the card you might ask? Absolutely nothing. Look’s picture fails in every aspect of the word picture. You might as well call it a symbol. This picture does no credit to the card it’s self and actually takes away from your playing experience by making you guess what it is supposed to be. Worst picture, yes most defiantly.

Most Wha?Secret Passage

Secret passage just happens to be one of those cards that you have to read about 8 times to fully understand. Rules lawyers get this one right of the bat, but see if you can get it the first try without going back. Yea didn’t think so. So again I ask Wha??

Most usefulHair Spray Blowtorch

The thing that makes this card so useful is the fact that the damage is automatic. While most slaying prevention cards have a dice roll factored into the mix, Blowtorch does not. Now the damage can still be prevented with stamina or invulnerability, but just try not to use this card on one of those types of monsters. Yes it has to be a female, but what’s better than saying “Sorry that failed, also you take one damage.” “Well aren’t you going to roll for it?” “Oh sorry, don’t need to.”

Most uselessBloody Feast

Now granted this card may sound good at first glance, but look again. The fact that you can’t play this card on your turn makes this card quite useless indeed. The odds that your opponent will be playing a vampire army, as well as yourself playing a vampire army, and then trying to slay a victim right next to your vampire, and you also having more than one vampire next to that victim are quite slim indeed. If you can pull this card off with even moderate success you should retire from the game of Horrorclix immediately, and spend your time teaching others your godlike luck.

Most used – the Re-rolls

If you’ve never seen a re-roll card used, then you have never played a game of Horrorclix. The Re-rolls,(witch include Trip, Broke a Heel, Cold Spot, Stuck Door, and Hidden Camera) Are by far the most played cards in the game. Everyone can attest to the fact that they will almost constantly have at least one re-roll in their crypt. They’re not bad cards, they just lack strategy.

Least usedUnlikely Martyr

This card never really sees much play time due to the fact that not only is it hard to pull off, but it also hurts your monster. Every one loves a good victim denial card, but there are many much better than this one. The fact that your monster has to take damage just to get the chance to kill the victim next turn is alone enough a good reason this card will see more dust than fingertips.

Most BrokenSubplot: Bitter Hatred

This card has grown to be way too powerful. The simple fact that if you’re playing in a 300 point game every victim of the archetype you choose suddenly goes from 15 points to 40 points apiece. And this is not a hard feat to accomplish if you use 6 of the same victims. Playing this card is like saying “Who cares about fun, I’m out for blood!” remember that this game was intended to be a fun one and that all this card does is make victim hording a much more common place occurrence.

Best flavor textTerror Sprint

“I don’t have to outrun it…I just have to out run you”

Classic horror line if there ever was one. Although it doesn’t have much to do with the card it’s used in, it’s still a great thing to say when your friend says “You know you can’t outrun that thing!”

Worst flavor textPower of Faith

“It’s always good to exorcise”

Every one appreciates a good pun every now and then, but this one is just awful. I mean it sounds like something Keanu Reeves would say in that movie Constantine. Just a bad pun if there ever was one.

Worst card – the Ticking Clocks

The ticking clock cards are only good if your opponent has no idea you are going to play them. Besides the fact that they can take up to 4 slots in your crypt away, they are also very troublesome to play. Added to that fact that any player can put a Broad Daylight card in they’re crypt and completely counter what you were trying to do with the cards. Good thing you wasted 3 spots in your crypt to have cards that you can’t use anymore huh.  Now they could be good if no one suspects you of using a ticking clock, but you still have too factor in that it takes up to 4 turns to make these things work in the first place. The kicker is that the cards aren’t really that good to begin with. I mean everyone loves a free re-roll, but you could instead use those 4 spots to put re-roll cards in to begin with. The fact is they just aren’t worth your time.

Best card- Bug Spray

Now I know some of you may disagree, but think about it. Bug spray offers you a 60% chance of success. No other card offers you that kind of chance when it comes to failed slaying. Sure Hairspray is automatic, but the monster has to actually take the damage for the slaying attempt to fail. With this it’s failure, then the chance to do damage. Plus the fact that Bug Spray is both male and female compatible, adds to the reason that this card is arguably the best card in the first set.
