Frankie Kilgore presents...
The Dream Hunters
A Horrorclix Scenario by Mad Jack
:
Background:
Frankie Kilgore, the notorious “Slumber Slasher,” is
throwing a party! He’s invited other dream-stalking
monsters to join him in his nightmare dimension,
drawing in and preying upon helpless dreamers. Of
course, when the monsters inevitably turn on each
other, Frankie is ready for a new game…
Objective:
Players compete to repeatedly murder and torment
dreaming victims for Frankie’s amusement. Murdering
and tormenting fellow monsters is both permitted and
encouraged.
(I.e., each player aims to defeat all others.)
Army Size:
300 points
Time Limit:
90 minutes
Map:
The Upper Pyramid (AVP: Aliens). If that map is not
available, the player who wins the initiative roll may choose any map. Frankie’s nightmare dimension is quite
mutable and can take any shape.
Setup:
At least half of the monsters used in each army must
have the Nightmare, Cthulhu, or Psychic keyword.
Players may place 3D objects that are normally
reserved for outdoor areas in indoor areas for this
scenario.
Special Scenario Rules:
If You Should Die Before You Wake:
Victims aren’t revealed when a monster moves adjacent
to them. A victim is only revealed when it is selected
as the chosen victim. Only face-up victims can be
slain. Face-down victims do not block lines of fire. A
monster can move through, but not occupy, a space
containing a face-down victim.
Party Games :
The point value of all victims is doubled (so, 30
points in a 300 point game). When one of your monsters
slays a victim, you may choose not to place that
victim on the slaying monster’s card. If so, place the
victim face-up on any unoccupied bloodspot. You still
get points for slaying the victim.
Victims? Aren’t We All?:
When any monster is killed, place a victim token from
outside the game into the space it occupied. Place an
action token or other marker on this victim for every
50 points the monster was worth (rounded up). When
this victim is slain, it is worth 50 points instead of
the usual 30; remove one marker and the active player
must place this victim on any unoccupied bloodspot.
When the victim is placed on the map with no markers,
it is treated as an ordinary victim worth 30 points.
Optional Rules:
These additional rules are for use on the Upper
Pyramid map.
A Treacherous Host:
At the beginning of each player’s preview phase, that
player rolls a d6. Flip over the wall tokens whose
numbers match the result of the die roll. All the
rules from the Wall Token Rules insert apply, with the
following modifications.
If a monster is killed by a wall token, no player
receives points vut the “Victims, Aren’t We All?” rule
still applies. The marked victim will appear at any
unoccupied bloodspot chosen by the active player. If
there are no unoccupied bloodspots, no marked victim
appears and Frankie consumes his guest’s essence for
all time.
Lucid Dreaming:
During the Suspense phase, instead of selecting a
chosen victim, the active player may roll a d6,
flipping the wall tokens that match the result.
As a close combat attack, any monster may attempt a
smash roll against a wall token (whether it is clear
or blocked) just as if it were smashing a portal. A
monster with the Nightmare, Cthulhu, or Psychic
keyword must roll 13 or higher to succeed. All other
monsters must roll 15 or highter. If the attempt
succeeds, the token and its double are both flipped.
If a monster occupies one of these spaces, proceed
according to the Wall Token Rules insert and “A
Treacherous Host,” above.
